3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big thanks to starrdogg for opening this one. Served in a Cigar City snifter. The nose carries a pretty strong aroma of apple brandy with some nice sweetness coming from that. Malty sweetness with faint fruit and caramel comes behind that. Flavor is a bit too barrel heavy, but still quite nice. A bit of booze, but not too much for a 13.5% beer.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This bottled brew from a rating party poured a head of bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation hazy dark brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt and mild vinous. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The strong flavor contained notes of vinous and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL bottle, sent from Elliesbrown (thanks a lot, Zack), pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of various deep dark fruits, apple, a bit of brandy and caramel malts. Flavour of rich caramel malts, apple brandy, deep dark fruits and a bit of candied sugar. Very complex, with a very deep flavour profile. Sweetness is medium, with a high complexity from the apple brandy without the barrels ever taking over. Finishes on notes of apple, brandy and caramel malts. Great stuff, but perhaps not as amazing as the ratings suggests.

Bottle thanks to Jack at THE others tasting. It pours cloudy deep brown with a small light tan head. The nose is dark fruit, jam, sweet over-ripe apple, blackcurrant, caramel, wood, vanilla and toasted coconut. The taste is toast, wood, varnish, cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry, apple brandy, leather, caramel, spice, jam and nice bitter bite with a warming finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and sticky-mouth-feel. Tasty and well-balanced.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared with Vinny, Frank, Alen and Bill. Pours a deep, murky brown body with thin off white head and minor lacing. Aroma is sweet vanilla, caramel, sweet barley & malt, light cocoa, and booze. Mouthfeel is medium and lightly silky. The alcohol suggested in the aroma is nowhere to be found in the taste - making this beer extremely drinkable despite itís high alcohol content. Notes of vanilla, toffee, caramel, cocoa, apple brandy, oak and a light spice. Very nice.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On draft at Cigar City. Pours a hazy brown with an off-white head. Nose is a nice burst of caramel and toffee with vanilla, some toffee, some wood, some nice brandy notes, mild booziness, and some more quaffable brandy. Flavor is a delectable balance of brandy, wood, vanilla, toffee, and caramel. Medium in body and another home run from CCBís barrel program.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle, bottled 9/7/12. Shared with the local group. Hazy brown, slightly amber-red color. Thin khaki head. Good spread of dotty lace. Big complex aroma. Caramel, wood, lightly spice, light bright fruit notes. Awesome creamy smooth texture, light carbonation. Not hot at all. Flavor carries the alcohol. Minimal warmth, just a hint of a bite in the finish. Sweeter taste, lightly spicy, pretty rich and decadent, though. Great barley wine.
