3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler courtesy GodofThunder. Ruby color with a light head. Touch of vanilla in the nose with a touch of woodiness and tobacco makes it come across almost like a dipped cigar. But the strong vanilla flavor comes across like vanilla creme soda mixed with brown ale, not crazy about it, but vanilla isn’t my favorite. Easy finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
thanks to the cheeseman for bring this one back from tampa! Vanilla with heavy caramel aroma, sweet cafe au lait aromas. Pours brown with no head. Definitely sweeter than the normal Maduro, strong vanilla flavors with thick caramel malts, light coffee flavors with a slightly nutty finish. Excellent beer!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2009 Growler from the brewery, just hours old. The pour yields a dark, chestnut colored body that glows translucent at the edges. A small, tight head of khaki colored foam leaves wet, jagged lines and micro-spots of lacing behind on the glass. The nose is sweeter than the other versions of Maduro that I have tried, the vanilla lending a sort of "root beer" like feel to the underlying caramel and cocoa malt, with subtle hints of brown sugar glazed nuts. Flavors follow suit, considerably less roasty than the other versions, sweet from the vanilla and dark caramel. The chocolate component also seems to be subdued, overpowered by notes of toasted marshmallow, vanilla, and powdered sugar. Just a hint of roasted coffee hits the back of the throat. Medium bodied and smooth, the perceived sweetness makes this one just a shade less sessionable than it’s brethren, but it still feels nice on the tongue. Another very solid brown ale from CCB, though this is probably my least favorite version of Maduro.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at a CCB event at Brass Tap (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown with reddish highlights. Aroma is sweet and malty with lots of vanilla and notes of chocolate, roast, brown sugar, nuts and caramel. Flavor is also sweet and malty with notes of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, wood, molasses, caramel and some hints of brown sugar and nuts. Medium body with a pleasing malty finish. A really easy drinking beer that would be great all night.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ The Brass Tap: Pours an amber brown with an off-white head that is mostly lasting. Vanilla is very evident in the roasty aroma and flavor with hints of caramel and chocolate malts. Has a medium body and creamy texture that is smooth and sweet in the finish. I prefer the normal Maduro Oatmeal Brown Ale. However, this is a nice twist on a very good recipe.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap. Pours a slightly hazy brown with amber highlights. Vanilla is huge in the nose with roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste is chocolate, light roasted malt, coffee, and just a hint of vanilla in the finish. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness. Very good but if Cigar City combined the Vanilla Maduro and Espresso Maduro it would be a match made in heaven.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Brass tap. Murky brown, thin head. Immediately chocolate nose, then i realized it was the vanilla and dark malts melding to create this vanilla/chocolate ice cream nose. Flavors of smoke, vanilla, some roast, tobacco, cocoa, earth and mild bitterness. Has that signature, full body that all CCB beers have. Excellent offering! I could drink this all night.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured at Brass Tap. RATING#800. Incredible beer. Pours red-amber with a small off-white head. Nose is some tobacco, malt, and some sugar with mellow vanilla cruising throughout this incredible beer. Flavor is toasted malt, tobacco, mellow vanilla, and bits of caramel. Like the Espresso Maduro, the Vanilla sings along in harmony, but does not overly dominate any of the sonata. I loved this beer. Body was light to medium, and the finish was a nice blend of sweet vanilla, very mild bitter, and malts.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured up on tab at the 05/28/09 Brass Tap CCB tasting with a slightly hazy brown – amber body and nice looking lasting tan head with spotty lacing. The aroma is sweet with malts, vanilla and a dash of caramel. Overall the aroma is moderate in strength and is able to bend the will of the drinker to go ahead and take a sip even if you’re not ready. The taste is much roastier then the nose and is tempered by the smooth near creamy oatmeal-ness. It begins with mild vanilla and caramel notes before layers upon layer of roast to dark roastiness take over. The vanilla persists in the background and build some into the finish. It ends a bit roasty dry but with lingering vanilla sweetness.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Brass Tap. Poured a dark reddish brown with a very thin egg-shell head. Aroma is full of strong sweet Madagascar vanilla, tobacco, and chocolate malt. Flavor is heavy with vanilla but not overpowering in my opinion. I could still taste the chocolate malt, toffee, and coffee flavors peeking thru. My favorite spin-off of Maduro so far.
