Pretty good British brown, although I do seem to pick up a bit of tartness that doesn’t belong. Poured at a good temperature with a modest, lite brown, foamy, thick head that soon all but disappears and no lace. Color is an almost clear amber brown with some bubble trails. Aroma is a very fragrant malt, nutmeats, cocoa, toffee, bit of roast. Flavor’s like nose and very we’ll balanced. The off tartness vanishes with a little time. Body/carbonation are about perfect. Finish is like flavor, has a few medicinal qualities that linger, and is overall very drinkable.

Poured from can into pint glass: Pours dark brown with a decent beige head. Aroma of cracker malt, chocolate, and a touch of toffee. Taste is thin with chocolate notes, leaves, earth, and bread. Thin body, medium carbonation, brown beer is brown.

Can from Vaaland, Bryne. Pours clear deep brown with a big creamy beige head. Aroma of musty brown malts, chocolate and coffee. Smooth light creamy mouthfeel. Taste is light sweet, creamy malts, chocolate, high carbonated, lingering chocolate.

Can from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent, consumed at home, Merton, Sunday 14th December 2014. Dark brown, in fact chestnut in colour with a large creamy small bubbled light beige head, good clarity with occasional ruby glints. Chocolate on nose, soft carbonation, some chocolate in mouth and a little weak, watery coffee. It’s ok, but no great shakes. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

355 ml can from Ammersin 5, Vienna, canned 08/08/14.
Dark copper/brown body, with a medium, creamy, dark beige head, that quickly dissipates completely.
Aroma is a lot of hazelnut, bread, melting chocolate, some coffee, some dark fruits.
Tastes of coffee, nuts, chocolate, dark fruits, subtle fruity hops.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a quite lively carbonation.
Finishes quite smooth, roasty, a bit dry, a bit wooden.

Really nice! Full, quite roasty, but smooth and with lovely nutty malts. Although I enjoyed the smell more, the taste is also nice, well balanced and just light bodied enough for a great drinkability. Overall not the best Brown Ale I’ve had, but one that I would gladly drink again.

2 fingers of off white head. Medium/dark red color. Aroma is clean with caramel, sweet bready light coffee. Taste is creamy, caramel, light chocolate and coffee, with tiny bit of sweet hops on the back. One of the best brown ales I have ever had.

This is about as good as a brown ale gets. Low hops. Really nice balance of maltiness and roast.

Pours like Cola, basically no head. Aroma of a light stout, roast, oatmeal, malts. Very roasted taste, some crisp sour in here as well. And the lovely oatmeal again. Great brown.
