Poured up on tab at the 05/28/09 Brass Tap CCB tasting with a slightly hazy brown – amber body and nice looking lasting tan head with spotty lacing. The aroma is sweet with malts, vanilla and a dash of caramel. Overall the aroma is moderate in strength and is able to bend the will of the drinker to go ahead and take a sip even if you’re not ready. The taste is much roastier then the nose and is tempered by the smooth near creamy oatmeal-ness. It begins with mild vanilla and caramel notes before layers upon layer of roast to dark roastiness take over. The vanilla persists in the background and build some into the finish. It ends a bit roasty dry but with lingering vanilla sweetness.

Draft at the source. Murky brown color, small tan head. Aroma of - you guessed it. Taste is - you guessed it again.

Tap at CCB. Complete sheets of off white lacing atop hazy ruby. Nose is sticky vanilla cookie. Taste is super slick and oily with a thinner finish. A bit like diet cola. Soapy end. Odd. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with no head, vanilla in the nose, vanilla and tobacco in the taste, very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

When this beer is on, it really is some kind of thing. Heavy tones of vanilla but not in that "Southern Tier syrup" kind of way, sort of like an adult’s vanilla. Rich but not too sweet, it’s definitely hard to believe this is just Maduro with some vanilla beans, it tastes almost more like a porter.

On tap at CCB. Aroma was strong malty and vanilla. Appearance was brown with minimal head. Taste was sweet with the vanilla shining through. Finish was sweet with vanilla aftertaste. Overall a great beer from a great brewer.

I finally got to try this beer! The body was the usual maduro; a merky brown brew with a soft white head. Aromas were pure vanilla with some nuttiness and slight roasted notes. Sip after sip reveals fresh vanilla among bready tones and a malty finish. As it warmed up the vanilla became fairly potent, and it was fantastic.

Firkin @ cigar city. Aroma of hazelnut, cream, and a slight pot funk. Pours pale brown with a good fast head. Tastes of vanilla bean, dark nuts and a thin finish. A little overbearing for its actual substance.

Really good beer. As most of the cigar city beers are just delicious!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brown in color, slight haze with a thin tan head. Big Vanilla dark roast malt aroma. Light with hops. This was a terrific flavored brew with great aging. Low in alcohol most can drink a few of these for sure.

On draft at the brewery, poured a dark brown color with little head aroma of sweet malt and straight vanilla. Flavors of light chocolate, smores, vanilla, and malt. This is the best variety of maduro I’ve had yet.
