A hearty brown ale that benefits from the silky mouthfeel provided by oatmeal, pairs great with Cigars.

The dark brown pour had the look of cola, which was emphasized by the fizzy carbonation, and the short lived head which rose to no more than one finger thick. The aroma was that of a fine chocolate with a touch of cinnamon. The taste was less interesting than what the aroma hinted at. There was some chocolate in the taste and some coffee and toffee as well, but the body was a little thin to truly support the flavors. There was some vanilla and cinnamon in the finish, with a light aftertaste.

BIF project 2. Appearance: deep dark brown, decent lacing. Aroma: muted aroma of dark chocolate, burnt sugar, roasted coffee beans. Taste: similar to aroma. Muted. Good flavor, just a bit light. A bit of a "smoke" thing going on with the aftertaste. Palate: good carbonation, weird lingering aftertaste. A bit astringent. Not bad, definitely not great.

Best brown I’ve had. Got it at 16 days old 12oz can. Bought it because I feel you can’t go wrong with cigar City. Correct. These guys get just about everything right. Dark brown almost porter color pour. Cocoa, toasted nuts, espresso...lots going on for a brown ale. Not too complex though. You could session this beer since its low on carbonation and high on taste AND...thank goodness, NOT another IPA which is so played out that its embarrassing.

Bottle. The pour is lighter brown. The aroma has a little funk to it so this one might have been an old one. The taste also has it, but good flavor. I guess I need a fresh bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the Growler NYC. Dark brown body with reddish highlights beneath a tan head. Roasted malt, vanilla, and toffee nose. Richness continues with a malty, nutty taste. Hint of acidity. Smooth, velvety feel followed by some spice and chocolate notes on the end.

Poured from a can dated 07/29/2015; its been quite awhile since I had this beer. Aroma is very malt forward and nutty with some nice secondary chocolate and toasted bread notes. Some medium light coffee character. Hints of toffee and caramel. A light floral ester and hop note. Pours a dark brown, almost black with a medium thick, medium sized, dark tan head that quickly recedes to the edges where it lingers. I have seen lighter colored porters and stouts. Medium light lacing and smallish legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with a moderate toasted bread and nuttiness. Some dark caramel and toffee with lighter notes of chocolate and coffee. Hints of dark fruit with some light floral hop notes. Moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and fairly creamy with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice somewhat sweet brown ale with a bit of a darker malt presence than is typical for the style. Hop notes and bitterness are also lighter than one would expect for an American version of the style. Almost like a baby stout or porter.
