12-oz bottle Pours a rich mahogany brown with a medium tan head with good lacing an retention. Aroma is OK with dark fruits predominating. There is a pungent roastiness as well. Taste is where this beer excels. Not as sweet as some browns, with a subtle sourness in the midtaste that morphs into a hoppy, smoky bitterness. The smoke flavor hangs in there in the finish. If you like smoky brews, and I do, this is a very fine brown. But it seems to me more in the style of a very smooth dry stout. Mouthfeel is medium and a little sticky. Very drinkable. The bitter smoky finish adds an intriguing quality to this brown. I was surprised to find this brew in a attractively priced six-pack. I will be keep in these in the fridge for as long as they are available.

Wow! This one is awesome. Everything you’d want in a brown ale. Aroma is lots of burnt sugar, roasted malt, and leather. Taste is leathery, toffee with dark roasted malt and a hint of tobacco. Finish is surprisingly clean.

Hazy brown pour with a white head. Smokey with chocolate and plum aroma. It has a full, smooth body with average carbonation. The taste mildly sweet with some roasted flavor and a dry finish.

Dark and hearty. Like a bowl of oatmeal. Some tree bark flavor and earthiness. A well done beer, but something I have to be in the mood for. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep brown pour. Cocoa aromas, a little lemon citrus. Very sweet on the palate. Definitely a dessert brown.

Pours brown with a big, white head. Nose is roasted malts with notes of prune and cocoa. Flavor is a bit on the sweet side for me. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Nice carbonation. Solid brown ale.
