3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a rich mahogany brown with a medium tan head with good lacing an retention.
Aroma is OK with dark fruits predominating. There is a pungent roastiness as well.
Taste is where this beer excels. Not as sweet as some browns, with a subtle sourness in the midtaste that morphs into a hoppy, smoky bitterness. The smoke flavor hangs in there in the finish. If you like smoky brews, and I do, this is a very fine brown. But it seems to me more in the style of a very smooth dry stout.
Mouthfeel is medium and a little sticky.
Very drinkable. The bitter smoky finish adds an intriguing quality to this brown. I was surprised to find this brew in a attractively priced six-pack. I will be keep in these in the fridge for as long as they are available.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2015 Can at Brickmakera Vienna. Molasses dried fruit. A little too one dimensionally sweet. Like a good quality malt extract or Kvas or something. A touch of cocoa. Overall too sweet.

A very nice Brown ale. This can be and often is a boring style. This is a good one. Nice sweet molasses and dried fruit aromas. Some fresh roasted nuts in the flavours...more nice sweetness.

3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can from Florida brought by my coworker. Poured into a British pint. Appearance is a deep dark brown with a slight head. Fragrances of malt are heavy. Tastes comes in light at first with a bit of a roasted note then middle note comes in blunt with a thick malty roast then dissapates into roast again. Nice brown ale too bad we don’t get it here in Texas.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can. Hazy brown body with a frothy, off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of toasted grain, light roast, cola, ash, wood, tobacco. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/chalky texture, lively carbonation. Taste of cola, caramel, roast, light molasses and a light astringent bitterness in the finish. Slick oatmeal followed by a chalky coating on the back of the tongue. Disappointing.

Velvety, smooth taste. Chocolate and malt are prevalent to the tongue. Palate is a little weak but stays with you for a while. Overall, a good brown. Would get again.
