Tap at Rattle N Hum. Another fairly muddy orange pour. The nose is a bit tropical and slightly sweet. Lots of bright mango character and bright tropical hoppiness. It is subtly different from the papaya (less vegetal) but it’s pretty similar overall.

Cigar City takes NYC event at Rattle ’N’ Hum. On cask. The fruit is in there, it looks great with a big head for a cask. Above average mouthfeel. Cedar in there. Really hoppy.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ibrew2or3 (4914) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JAN 24, 2010
From growler pouring copper with gold edges and modest white head. The aroma is full of sweet tropical fruit notes with lesser amounts of sharp citrus hops, spicy hops and a sweet malt backbone. The taste has a pleasing spicy to near pine to citrus hop bite quickly followed by late boil addition flavor hops and a thin layer of sweet tropical fruitiness. I have to say the last batch of Jai Alai was very good. The hops pop with bitter and flavor hop balance and are held up firmly by a sweet maltiness. This is the hoppiness I really enjoy. Excellent improvement here Wayne. I would be interested to see the Mango treatment with more contact time. As it is now the Jai Alai yumminess swallows up the Mango leaving only tasty hints here and there.

Entering old rates. Draft @ CCB Fruit in the Room 2010.

Cask at RnH. Pours hazy orange with a white head. The aroma has fresh fruity hops and citrus. The flavor brings a cool tropical fruity sweetness, citric hops, and some sweet malts. Pretty good, but nowhere near as good as the Papaya IPA.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beerlando (3324) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 10, 2010
Growler, courtesy dchmela. Pours a clear, dark golden-amber hue with a small, foamy, ivory colored head. A sudsy wash leaves behind jagged flares of lacing. As expected, the nose is majorly tropical, showing bright notes of mango, grapefruit, and orange, along with a good amount of hop resin, all over a malt base of sweet toffee and toasted bread. Flavors follow suit, showing great balance between the crisp, juicy, mango and citrus hop flavors and the sweet, slightly buttery toffee. It might be a little sweeter than the base Jai Alai IPA, but it delves deeper with its fruit profile. The palate is medium-plus in heft, balanced in carbonation, and smooth. It’s a shade on the wet side for how I like my IPA’s, but it’s a negligible flaw. Delicious stuff.
