32 oz flip top shared by Kan. Thanks! Pours a well darkened brownish black, frothy tannish head sits atop, dies to thick ring and laces pretty well. Good haze with some touches of brown on the top and edges. Aromas are maple and toast, sweet caramel and toffee, some dark fruit, oaky tannins, vanillin, and some gentle spice. Cocoa, toast. Sweet malts, rich with flavorful barrel on the nose, no heat. Sweeter maple tends to overrun the spirit. Initial is medium bodied, perhaps a touch thicker, with good toast and sweet sticky malts, toffee and caramel, some dark fruit essence, gentle peat into the backend. Some Bourbon, oak, and maple flavors. Touches of nuttiness, earthy brown malts. Wet oak and gentle spirit from the Bourbon touch, nothing overbearing perhaps indicating perfect aging or maybe the maple taking a bit of the brunt of the assault off. Some cherries, sweet, and toasty. The dark fruit comes well, barrel influence is pleasant, sweet malts, toast mesh well. A lot of fruit though. Not bad, sufficient barrel. Pretty nice.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2011 1 liter growler... Pours a murky very muddy dark brown, mahogany almost and topped with a creamy fluffy barely off-white head... Aroma of sweet caramels, a little buttery fluff, and sweet maple, and purple grapey dark fruits. Bourbon almost non-existent... Flavors are a continuation of the same with a light butter note to coincide with dark fruit and not so much of a nutty brown influence. Finishes sweet with the maple portion surfacing. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Bourbon unnoticed overall.

On draft at Cigar City. Pours dark red-brown with a tan head. Nose is maple, roasted nuts, whiskey, smoked wood, cherry, dark fruit, some chocolate. Flavor is similar with every element in the nose expressing itself individually and together. Medium in body and deep and complex.

On draft at Cigar City, poured a dark brown with amber highlights. Aromas of bourbon, malt, nuts, and a twinge of maple. Has a big bourbon flavor in the begining of the drink with some malt, nuts and earthy wood complementing the bourbon. Towards the end the maple flavor comes out, and is not overpowering the beer.

Draft poured in a snifter at the brewery. Dark brown, almost black coffee color with a half inch head which dissipates and doesn’t hold for long. Nose is bourbon with hints of maple and nuttiness with roasted malts. Medium body with a light lacing on the glass. Flavor follows the nose with bourbon up front. Roasted malts follow with maple. The bourbon melds nicely with the regular bolita.

Pours a hazy ruby brown. Nose is mild maple, big alcohol, bourbon, sweet malts, earthy. Flavor is big Bourbon and dark fruits, hints of maple, hints of earthy woods, sweet malts. Interesting. Wish the maple was more forward.
