32oz growler side by side with a 2010 regular version of Zhukov. It pours dark oily black with more carbonation and a darker tan head than its regular version. A little bit thinner in body versus the regular version. The thickness held up nicely against the barrel giving it the perfect body for a BA Impy. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, and bourbon. The chocolate flavors and aromas still peak through the bourbon making it very smooth. I think this is the best Zhukov variation from the regular version, double barrel, and cedar aged. Definitely worth seeking out.

32oz growler pours an oily, opaque black with zero head. Legs like a scotch. Nice, milk chocolate aroma, sweet, light booze, vanilla, dried fruits, cherries. Flavor has some nice components but it just doesnít mesh really well; milk chocolate, light coffee, toasted bread, light oak. Full bodied, dry finish. A touch hot.

Cigar city four roses Zhukov. 32oz growler thanks to Adam for bringing
these by again... Pours a deep oily black, somewhat viscous,
impenetrable by light and crowned with a thin deep tan film topping
things of... Aroma is smooth bourbon notes, a slight char, and
bittersweet chocolate, almost fudgey while a sligt roast also presents
itself... Flavors follow suit quite nicely with very smooth barrel
notes, a mild char, deep bitter chocolate and some roasty bits
meandering all along with it. Mouthfeel is thick, viscous, oily, and
full. It completely coats the mouth as well as the glass in itself.
Nice control of the brew without the barrel becoming burdensome.
Really enjoyed the flavor profile and mouthfeel.

32 oz growler from askofficerfriendly. Thanks, Greg! Pours an inky black opaque pour, thick and big with a small very dark brown head that dies to a loose bubbled head. Aromas are sweet toffee, roasted malts, an ok barrel presence, with some Bourbon spirit, vanilla and wet oak. Cocoa, dark with some coffee, big dark chocolate and roasty coffee. Initial is thick and full, with sweet toffee and chocolate, touches of roasty coffee. Sweet overall, with cocoa, toffee, some roasty coffee and thick sweet caramel, roast and toast, coffee and mocha, bakers chocolate with decent barrel presence, Bourbon kisses it with nice light spirit, some vanilla tannins. Full bodied with good with roast, toast, big sweet malts, cocoa. Really good, full and fudgy without an overdone barrel, but full of flavor, oak, kisses of Bourbon. Vanilla, fudgy cocoa, coffee, caramel. Lingering thicker finish leaves a sweeter take on the palate, but really left me wanting more. Great beer and Barrel Age example here. But Iím a huge sucker for Zhukov as it is.

unbelievable! Four Rose Bourbon barrel aged. Thanks again Dak! Love the bottle. This stuff stained my glass. Smokey coffee tobacco and lots of alcohol. And of course bourbon and burn. Great palate. The mix or blend of these flavors was well balanced, I could live on this.

[Growler, thanks so much for the trade!] Pours black with a small, very dark brown head. Aroma is coconut, chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, raisin, and prune. Really nice. The taste has raisin, lots of chocolate, deeply roasted malt, a peppery aspect, and some dark fruit notes in the background. A little too much deeply roasted malt, but otherwise reminds me of some of the really nice batches of BCS that I have had in the past. Thick mouthfeel, chewy, with a long finish. A little too ashy, but otherwise an outstanding example of how to barrel age an imperial stout. Thanks again!

(growler shared by OSLO, thanks a ton Al!!) Pours jet black with a very dark brown head. Aroma smells exactly like bourbon-soaked fudge. Very rich and decadent. Also some coconut, vanilla, and oddly enough some dark fruit and vinous scents. Also some Sumatran coffee. Very nice aroma. Taste is a little disappointing compared to the aroma, and itís somewhat ashy which dominates the other flavors. Taste of fudge, plenty of vanilla, coconut, heavily roasted malt, and some oak as well. Booze is present, but not really intrusive. Mouthfeel is very thick and full, and carbonation is fairly low. Overall this is a quality barrel-aged beer, as it does a superb job of integrating the barrel with the base beer. Thanks again for sharing Al!

On-tap at the Hunaphu release. Thanks to Sean for getting this, we also brought back a growler so looking forward to trying this again shortly with our tasting group... All the MZ are midnight black, this one is no different. The head is a very dark brown, great color. Has more head and carbonation then most ba beers, forms and leaves a nice right with good lacing... The aroma is strong with great vanilla whiskey notes. First beer of the day, a great way to open up my olfactory senses. I had the regular MZ with this and the deep roasted chocolate comes through some but not as strong, barrel takes the edges off. Smells great... The taste is really good but at this point its a touch too hot and sweet. I really hope the counter-pressure filled growlers hold for a bit because I would to try this once its died down. Sweet bourbon, alcohol and vanilla, a little roast coffee on the finish. Not as complex as the brandy version but enjoyable.
This is worth trying.
