UPDATED: FEB 2, 2014 Rating 1500 Bottle from 2011 Pitch black. A small dark brown head. Didn t see many brews this dark. Like a black oil, very siropy. What a bomb of chocolate and coffee. The roasted malts are bittering in the end, but nothing overwhelming. Better as hoped, even one of my favorites.

Jet black used motor oil pour with no head. Bitter chocolate first smell. Also some red wine balsamic vinegar like notes. Coffee and chocolate taste along with acidic vinous flavors. Medium bodied with low to medium carbo. Overall a nice brew but it seems to miss something. From trade with Jimsal27, thanks Jimmy, awesome to have been able to taste this one.

í09 vintage sampled at First Sunday. Pours black, with a minimal, tan head. Aromas of vanilla, maple, toffee, and cocoa. Very sweet, with light bitterness and a faint sour note. Heavy body, with a thin, acidic feel. Overall, this has a great aroma and lovely flavor, but the mouthfeel is lacking.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Vovaís place. Thanks Dima. Pitch black with a bit of brown foam. Wonderful burnt aroma, full of dark chocolate, liqueur and some espresso. Bittersweet roasty flavor with lots of dark chocolate, cocoa, a bit of coffee and a more bitter, burnt finish. Full thick rounded mouthfeel. A wonderful Imperial Stout.
