Very sweet imperial stout. Not one of my favorite style, but a very good example of the style.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 7/11/2013. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark brown head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, tobacco, light char/smoke, raisin, prune, and roast/smoke earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of big dark/roasted malt and moderate dark fruit notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, tobacco, light char/smoke, raisin, prune, and roast/smoke earthiness. Fair amount of roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, tobacco, light char/smoke, raisin, prune, and roast/smoke earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt and moderate dark fruit flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible imperial stout. All around awesome complexity and balance of big dark/roasted malt and moderate dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. An incredibly amazing offering.

At Sybarite Pig poured into a goblety tulip (don't know what to call it).
Opaque black with a creamy coffee-colored head. Mild aromas don't give off a fair warning of the deliciousness to come.
Very light carbonation accompanies a medium body with a well-balanced malty sweetness. Raisin, coffee, and hints of chocolate.
Smooth the whole way through. I was in the right place at the right time to get this pour.

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown to black color with a brown creamy head. Aroma is sweet, boozy, molasses, vanilla. Flavor is just as potent, boozy molasses sweetness, vanilla, roasted malts. Thick creamy mouth fell. Delicious.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Cigar City Marshal Zhukovís Imperial Stout is quite possibly the best beer ever in this category. Very dark pour with a dark (almost black) foamy head emits the aroma of sweet coffee and chocolate. Taste is extremely complex for this style -- chocolate, coffee with hints of cherry and stone fruit. Surprisingly smooth for such a high ABV. Savor every sip. Whatís not to like? Marshal Zhukov is great.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled @ Whole Foods, Sarasota, FL. Sorry, i know this is a low rating but, i do not like the taste of coffee, and this beer does nothing to hide it.
At $12.49 a bottle, it was a little bit too much for me. They obviously made a great quality product here, but it just does not suit my taste.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
My favorite "Russian" Imperial Stout. Iíve always thought of the Russians as more pure and unadulterated than "American" Imperial Stouts, which I think of as stuff like FBS and BA stouts. Anyways, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasty chocolate and caramel. Taste is roasty with lots of sweet chocolate. Alcohol is there but hidden very nicely. Thick mouthfeel, but not too much. Love this beer.

The base for Hunaphu, is itself a fantastic beer. Dark thick pour, notes of chocolate and slight expresso. Really smooth and drinkable at this abv. The 2014 version is excellent although the bottles went from bombers to 22s. Interested to let this one sit for a few months.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I have put off starting or RateBeer for too long. I think this is a good place to start.
Aroma: The English hop varietals are obvious in the nose and you can smell the heft of the malt bill. Alcohol & Molasses show through, but the aroma is surprisingly reserved.
Appearance: Pours ink black, with the thinnest line of coffee-colored foam clinging to the glass.
Taste: Young and flagrant, but thatís expected in a 2014. Initial taste is molasses and coffee. Mild chocolatey bitterness lingers from the roasted barley and hops. Salty brew.
Palate: Marshal Zhukov manages to be gruff, yet silky smooth, coating the tounge and then leaving a warmth from the high ABV.
Overall: Impressive beer that makes me think of Black Note w/ balls. Very excited to open my bottle from last year.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. 2014, drank fresh. Poured into a snifter. Nose is a dark chocolate and bittersweet cocoa. Pour is pitch black with a dark brown head. Taste is all dark chocolate and coffee without being astringent or burnt. Thick chewy mouthfeel. A slight to moderate alcohol warming. Feels like a slight burn, a little hot on the exhale. Slight soy sauce and teriyaki as it warms. A little tobacco. Seems like this is a bit hotter with booze than I remember. Still very good.
