COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War IIís finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukovís Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukovís Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

Bottle. Black with a mocha ring. Sweet dark malt aroma with cocoa. Creamy roasty feel. Dark coffee taste with light bitterness. Light smoke with a thick creamy mouthfeel. Amazing stout overall love this. Basically perfect.

Bottle. Pitch black and oily with little head. Aroma is chocolate milk and dark fruit. Taste follows and adds roasted malt, char and soy sauce. Viscous and sticky. Awesome.

Wow this is good. Pours black with a dark brown head almost as dark as the beer. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and licorice. Malty sweetness chocolate coffee and licorice flavors. Thick as motor oil. One of the best beets i have ever had. I wish they had this in Ohio.

Beer #13 of 13 in blind tasting.
Finally the end! Finished on a high note. Pours thick with dark brown head. Slight autolysis. Thick but not off putting alcohol. Sweet chocolate really sets this apart. My second highest rated blind beer.
In the aggregate, it was #1 but basically as good as Blvd Dark Truth and Lagunitas.

Imperial stout blind tasting, sample #13 of 13. This is the bottle I brought, spoils from a strong fantasy football rookie season. Sexy inky black pour. More ashy roast, lovely brown head. Sweet, roasty, some marshmallow, but stays on the sweet side instead of becoming cloying. Just barely in the top half of the pack tonight.

Pours black with fluffy tan head. Nose is chocolate, a bit of milky thing, chocolate ice cream, molasses. Taste is a ton of milk chocolate, toffee/caramel, plum, there's a dark fruity thing, espresso, a touch of dryness on the finish. Good, but I had really high hopes and wasn't blown away.

Bottle. Thanks! A: Pure black with a dark mocha head that rises to an inch and then lingers as a ring. Shows me some legs. N: Cocoa, soy sauce, prune, molasses, licorice, coffee, char and ash. Loam and damp leaves. Leather and tobacco. Kalamata olive. T: Smokey bitter and sweet. A little salty from the soy/olive. M: Heavy and oily slick body. Alcohol is well-hidden. Low level of fizzy carbonation. O: Much prefer Hunahpuís. This one has some strange salty flavors that, while they donít sink the beer, they do make it a shoulder shrug for me.

Bottle from a trade. Thanks Wyatt! Pitch black colour. Very dark brown foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts and espresso. Dry hoppy finish. Light sweetness form caramel and toffee. Good stout!

Bottle @ home as my 9000th rating. Opaque pitch black color, full sized dark brown head that lasts for quite some time. Aroma is malts, dark malts, some caramel, wood, a touch of liquor. Taste malts, dark malts, lightly liquorice, roast, initially lightly espresso, espresso roast in the finish, bitter, dark chocolate, lightly dry aftertaste with a good espresso roast and dark chocolate bitterness. Silky texture, medium to full body, suitable carbonation. A lovely roasty celebration for my 9000th rating!
