COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War IIís finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukovís Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukovís Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

Bottle 750 ml. Pitch black with thick brown head. Aroma: alcohol, chocolate, hops, torefied malt. Taste: chocolate, lactic acid, alcohol, caramel flavour candy. Creamy texture. Not crazy about the acidic mouthfeel. Pretty impressive beer otherwise!

Keg at Bitter Phew in Sydney, Australia. This Imperial Stout was black, thick and heavy. A sipping beer. Strong stout aroma. Dark chocolate on the palate. Each sip lingered on the palate for a few minutes.

Bottle share. Aroma is coffee that leans towards licorice. Appearance is black with a tan head. Taste is dark and sweet with some licorice, molasses, and way dark malt with booze. Palate is dry and sweet darkness. Overall, a great stout. Bet it is fantastic barrel aged. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Vine and Barley Palm City - pours blacker than black with a tan head. Lots of dark chocolate and some dark fruit in th nose. The taste is very luscious. The chocolate is rich and fudgy. Some notes of dark fruit and a litte anise. This beer is amazeballs!!!

"Ho. Lee. Crap! This is what a russian stout should be! iíve had plenty o dark beers, this was easily THE darkest. just when you think there are only so many shades of black, this beer comes along. even tilting the glass, the edges were still near jet black (and my friend remarked there was a rainbow sheen like youíd see on a oil slick). it even sounded like oil glugging out of the bottle. Huge aroma of chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, hoppiness in the nose and flavor more as it warmed. licorice in there as well. Big all around, but a very complex brew. super thick, but not cloying, and less hot than the BORIS. an excellent sipper. perfect for a cold winter night, not one iíd probably ever have in the summer. this will be pretty high up there in-style and overall for me. one of the best new stouts iíve had in quite some time."

Taste from a bottle at a share. Very dark brown color. Little light brown head. Couple dots of lace. Bigger dark fruit, some molasses. Hints of dark chocolate, roast malt, little wet tobacco. Syrupy sweet taste, light bit of heat, lighter bitter. Medium to bigger body. Very light carbonation. Really slick and syrupy, pretty interesting texture, but a bit too sweet and lingery for me. Very flavorful, tasty, and interesting stuff, though. Fun to try.

Bottle 8/12/14 courtesy of Ed. Pours. Beautiful, viscous black with thin deep mocha head. Aroma is soy sauce , teriyaki, roast, chocolate, dark fruit, raisin, molasses. Taste soy sauce, astringent dark malts, chocolate, hot alcohol astringency. Extremely disappointing. Not a great beer. Crazy oxidized.

Very sweet imperial stout. Not one of my favorite style, but a very good example of the style.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 7/11/2013. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark brown head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, tobacco, light char/smoke, raisin, prune, and roast/smoke earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of big dark/roasted malt and moderate dark fruit notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, tobacco, light char/smoke, raisin, prune, and roast/smoke earthiness. Fair amount of roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, tobacco, light char/smoke, raisin, prune, and roast/smoke earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt and moderate dark fruit flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible imperial stout. All around awesome complexity and balance of big dark/roasted malt and moderate dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. An incredibly amazing offering.

At Sybarite Pig poured into a goblety tulip (don't know what to call it). Opaque black with a creamy coffee-colored head. Mild aromas don't give off a fair warning of the deliciousness to come. Very light carbonation accompanies a medium body with a well-balanced malty sweetness. Raisin, coffee, and hints of chocolate. Smooth the whole way through. I was in the right place at the right time to get this pour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
