COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War IIís finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukovís Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukovís Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Above and beyond. Pours black with a really dark tan head. Aroma is celery. Go figure. More than full bodied. Mild carbonation. Flavor is very dark burnt malt, coffee, light chocolate. Finishes less than dry, but very, very delicious. Smooth.

750ml bottle-pour aggressively for a righ brown head that dissipates to a ring of bubbles with a color that resembles motor oil after 110k miles that sheets on the side of the glass. Aroma is rich dark malt/oat-anise/molasses/cocoa, earthy. Taste is rich double dark chocolate/anise-dark malt/oat, some acidic/earthy hops bite. Soft carbonation. Smooth.

A: You canít get much prettier than this beer. A thick, black motor oil like pour with a surprising amount of mocha colored foam. S: Pretty standard RIS aromas coming out of this one: coffee, bitter chocolate, licorice, and some dark fruits. T: The chocolate is the most prominent flavor coming out of this beer. The coffee and roasted malt provide a bit of contrast and bitterness. M: Full bodied with moderate carbonation. A nice viscosity to it. D: Not a bad beer. I guess my expectations were a bit high for this one, but the flavors were a bit underwhelming, unfortunately. Still a good RIS, but not the best.

Bottle from Kingdom Liquors. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly diminished with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, chocolate and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt flavor with a heavy dark bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

A deep dark stout with a thick brown head, very creamy. In aroma, a pungent woody chocolate, grassy hops, coffee grids, interesting.
