COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War II’s finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukov’s Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukov’s Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

Wow. This is one big, flavorful imperial stout. Thanks to Daniel for this one. Pours jet black with minimal head. Aromas of espresso and chocolate. Blast of chocolate flowed by a touch of bitterness. Finishes with bittersweet chocolate. An instant favorite.

Bottle at home from Homer321 who sent me a very high caloritic box o beer. Jet black pour filmy head. Nose is roasted malt and cocoa. Tastes of rich chocolate, caramel, molasses, tobacco. Earth. Rich palate chewy.

The very dark brown body and opaque was impressive to look at, but the medium brown head was even more so, small and short lived as it was. The aroma was most reminiscent of toffee, with a strong caramel and molasses presence, not as much coffee or chocolate as I expected. The taste was more approachable than most IRS style beers, with lots of sweet chocolate, lightly roasted coffee, and smooth vanilla, and not too much astringency or acidity. The beer was easy to drink for a double digit ABV bruiser. The body was thick and soft in feel, and the alcohol warmth was well in check. This was a lovely stout, but not much to remember it by after it was gone.

Pours black with about a finger of thick, deep tan head. Beautiful! Aroma of molasses, liquorice, figs and dates, espresso, chocolate. Taste is chocolate and fig sweet up front, followed by a rich, long, lingering espresso bitter finish. Rich and creamy body with velvety carbonation.

Bottle at Himmeriget. Black with a small tan head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, light roasted malt. Similar taste, also coffee and some nuts. Smooth and nicely balanced. I could drink this again.

Flaske.

Fin balans. Mycket gott.

2014 vintage. Aroma of raisin, roasty chocolate, fudge, plums, red grape, espresso. Pours pitch black with the creamiest thick, brown head. Taste is very balanced with stronger notes of chocolate, fudge, espresso. Plums and raisins are more subdued in the taste. Very full bodied, super smooth and silky mouthfeel, soft carbonation, nice plummy and espresso finish. This impy is incredible with aging. So smooth and perfect on the palate.

Igazi motorolaj-jelleggel köszön be a tábornok itala, szirupos, ragacsos, éjjeli folyadék keskeny bézs karimával a tetején. Szójaszószos jellege a legteltebb étcsokoládéval megpakolt, kakaóbabos malátalikőr benyomását kelti, tekintélyt parancsoló, harcias formátumú főzetünk nem szűkölködik a feketén vibráló ízjegyekben. Amire egy imperial stout képes, azt ez a sör mind tudja, magasabb szintre emelni fizikailag talán csak további érlelés útján lehetséges, a kategória királyai között tehát mindenképpen érdemes számon tartani.

Large shared 2014 bottle in July 2016.. Lightly sweet: a better level than Surly Darkness or Dark Lord, with all 3 tried in the same tasting session. Plenty of dark dried fruit. Lightly boozy in a way that fits the other characteristics.
