COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War II’s finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukov’s Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukov’s Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

This is one the best stouts out there made by one of the best up and coming breweries. Wish they sent more up this way to southeast Georgia.

If there was a mouth feel category in rate beer this would be a hundred and twenty. Please drink this with a glass of water. It is slighty sweet with a dark Carmelle. The malt is nicely roasted. the flavor is soooo...... long with a slight chocolate and a nicenhoppy bitter finish.

At Avery’s 2012 Strong Ale Fest. Black with a dark brown head. Enticing aroma of grilled smokey chocolate, dark roast coffee, a touch of wood. Flavor is a complex explosion. Chocolate throughout with a deep roasty maltiness and a nice coffee undertone. Very big but sweet chocolaty complex. And velvety smooth. Good grief!

Quel bombe, conception pratiquement parfaite.

This an epic beer and not recommended for the faint of heart. The ABV alone should ward of the casual on looker, but if not, prepare for war. Bernie is on record stating that this is the best Imperial Stout that I have ever had and until proven otherwise it will remain at the top. The beer pours as black as oil and has a minimal amber colored head, but the crazy part is that as you prepare for the first sip all of your preconceived notions are erased and you find yourself with an Imperial Stout that is light bodied, robust, surprisingly easy and inviting to drink. The dark body of the stout never catches up to the overall intriguing and pleasant taste of the beer. Must have when found and a new age collection beer. One bomber is great, 2 bombers good luck!

Wow, this stuff is AMAZING, may be the best I have tried so far. Grabbed a bottle while in Orlando, wish I would have gotten more. Jet black pour, tan head. Smell of molasses, smoke, tinge of the booze. No booze in the fantastic taste however. Malts, nuts and molasses with a hint of hop BALANCE. Goodness its good! I envy you guys in Tampa and Florida where this can be found!

HUGE! pours nearly opaque black, brown head. Now almost all RISs have aroma and flavors of coffee, dark chocolate, deep roasted grains molasses, licorice, etc, this one is no different,. In my opinion, what seperates the truly great ones is the balance and amount of such flavors and aromas. MZ nailsit!!!!!! This is right up there with 3 Floyd’s Dark Lord and Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. Excellent- flavor and aroma is just bursting out my glass!

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2012 Rerated 12-MAY-2012, bottle @CBC. This time perfect carbonation. Dark brown head indicates that. This is just an amazingly complex and balanced brew. ******************************************* bottle @apartment in Barcelona, from Wholefoods Orlando. Pours heavy viscous, black. Black as night with no head. Bourbon, liqourice, bitter, smoke, actually quite smokey and very roasted with chocolate and espresso. ...and then all the bourbon notes with vanilla and smoke again. It really coats the glass with a yellow brown color. It really lacks some carbonation. Where has that gone? A bit sticky on the lips. Definately sweet. I try to force the second pour in order to get a bit of head but it does not happen. Fantastic brew but would be perfect with some carbonation. Transported from Orlando to CPH and then to BCN. Did that ruin the carb.? I can see from other ratings that it usually does have carbonation so I would really love to try this again.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2012 Bottle. Pours a thick dark black with an espresso colored head. Aroma is dark cherries, espresso, black licorice, roasted malts, burnt sugar and hints of alcohol. Taste is dark chocolate and coffee. Getting hints of licorice and dark cherries and roasted/smoked malts. On the palate the beer provides a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness, lingering roasted coffee at the end. Nice carbonation, definitely not syrupy at all. Impressive beer!
