This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War IIís finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukovís Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukovís Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

This is one the best stouts out there made by one of the best up and coming breweries. Wish they sent more up this way to southeast Georgia.

Cigar City Marshal Zhukovís Imperial Stout is quite possibly the best beer ever in this category. Very dark pour with a dark (almost black) foamy head emits the aroma of sweet coffee and chocolate. Taste is extremely complex for this style -- chocolate, coffee with hints of cherry and stone fruit. Surprisingly smooth for such a high ABV. Savor every sip. Whatís not to like? Marshal Zhukov is great.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2015 Wow this is good. Pours black with a dark brown head almost as dark as the beer. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and licorice. Malty sweetness chocolate coffee and licorice flavors. Thick as motor oil. One of the best beers i have ever had. I wish they had this in Ohio.

Rating #1131- June 22, 2014 - Bottle split with the mighty @foxjunk - My first Cigar City - considerate initiation. Black as 48% of a roulette wheel with a tan head that caps nicely. Aroma is heavy roast malt, espresso, molasses. Taste is heavy on roast malt and coffee flavours, lots of burnt sugar, toffee, blackstrap molasses. For 11% the alcohol burn is less pronounced - very well rounded. Phenomenal.

If there was a mouth feel category in rate beer this would be a hundred and twenty. Please drink this with a glass of water. It is slighty sweet with a dark Carmelle. The malt is nicely roasted. the flavor is soooo...... long with a slight chocolate and a nicenhoppy bitter finish.

At Averyís 2012 Strong Ale Fest. Black with a dark brown head. Enticing aroma of grilled smokey chocolate, dark roast coffee, a touch of wood. Flavor is a complex explosion. Chocolate throughout with a deep roasty maltiness and a nice coffee undertone. Very big but sweet chocolaty complex. And velvety smooth. Good grief!

This an epic beer and not recommended for the faint of heart. The ABV alone should ward of the casual on looker, but if not, prepare for war. Bernie is on record stating that this is the best Imperial Stout that I have ever had and until proven otherwise it will remain at the top. The beer pours as black as oil and has a minimal amber colored head, but the crazy part is that as you prepare for the first sip all of your preconceived notions are erased and you find yourself with an Imperial Stout that is light bodied, robust, surprisingly easy and inviting to drink. The dark body of the stout never catches up to the overall intriguing and pleasant taste of the beer. Must have when found and a new age collection beer. One bomber is great, 2 bombers good luck!

Wow, this stuff is AMAZING, may be the best I have tried so far. Grabbed a bottle while in Orlando, wish I would have gotten more. Jet black pour, tan head. Smell of molasses, smoke, tinge of the booze. No booze in the fantastic taste however. Malts, nuts and molasses with a hint of hop BALANCE. Goodness its good! I envy you guys in Tampa and Florida where this can be found!

HUGE! pours nearly opaque black, brown head. Now almost all RISs have aroma and flavors of coffee, dark chocolate, deep roasted grains molasses, licorice, etc, this one is no different,. In my opinion, what seperates the truly great ones is the balance and amount of such flavors and aromas. MZ nailsit!!!!!! This is right up there with 3 Floydís Dark Lord and Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. Excellent- flavor and aroma is just bursting out my glass!
