This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War II’s finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukov’s Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukov’s Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

Bottle@Tastingsession. Apperance: Dark as coal with a creamy brown head. Aroma: Caramel, Chocolate, Roasted malts, Butterscotch. Flavor: Caramel, Roasted malts, Milk chocolate, Cocoa, Ripe fruit. Palate: Low carbonation and very high residual sweetness in this one. Smooth and robust. A good imperial stout that reminds me of 3F Dark Lord because of the big sweetness. Very good stuff.

Black as night, mild tan head. Sticky tan lace gets summoned from the depths with each swirl. Leaves remnants of its presence in my glass which cannot simply be rinsed out with water: Zhukov requires a brush or sponge to remove.

Deep, roasty, caramelized grain hits my nose. Luscious, plenty of depth. Massive, yet silky body coats my mouth with every sip. Why can't all stouts copy this mouthfeel?

Brazenly roasted malts, dark chocolate, hints of bitter coffee greet my palate. Toffee and molasses on the back end. Mild warmth as I swallow. An excellent example of a straightforward RIS.

Bottled 07.12.13. Dark espresso, micro bubble head. Stains the glass. Earthly, rich dry chocolate. Syrup sweet. Very clean. Paper, lite alcohol if any. Hint of cherry licorice. Soft, velvet mouthful. Mild thickness.

Aroma vanilla and soy sauce. Appearance dark brown with khaki head. Taste is a great balance between sweet vanilla, chocolate, and savory soy. Palate is creamy and smooth. Ends on a bitter note. This is basically a smoother expedition stout. Which is a GREAT thing in my opinion

Bottle saved form a cgarvie bash - cheers Craig! Pours jet black, thin brown head. Heady boozy apple aromas, but also toffee and treacle. Taste has tar, leather maybe, coffee, but milky. Oily texture. Good stuff.

Traded bottle enjoyed in FL. Possibly the thickest looking beer I have ever poured. Seriously looked like used motor oil with a small ruby accent head. Big aroma of sweet and dark fruit, molasses and brown sugar. Huge flavor profile that covers espresso, tart cherries and sweet malt. No hint of the 11 ABV. Nice but big.

One of the new bombers. Color was black, nice and thick. Aroma was strong of chocolate, coffee, and toffee. Some caramel came out as well in the taste. Looking forward to seeing how it ages.
