4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled thanks to Dak @ his Final Four Tasting. Ebony pour with a compressed brown sugar head that left spotty lacing. Aroma is assertive with notes of caramel, plum, dark chocolate, and ash. Flavor is also a bit on the aggressive side with Godiva and Hershey finding their way to the forefront. Tons of chocolate along with some toffee and spice. Chewy mouthfeel...much more so than Dirac. Yum.

Wow - pours dark chestnut brown with a small head. The aroma is awesome - big coffee and light chocolate notes with roastiness. The flavor is coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts with just a bit of soy that all blend together on a delicious, medium creamy body that goes down so smooth.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
side by side tasting at dlday 2011. thanks to drew and adam for providing the bottles:
Cigar Bohr... Thicker stouty pour with a thick tan... Aroma dark fruit
roast chocolate, thick and full... Flavor is thick full with chocolate
ash roast with a nice dark fruit flavor. Great body with a big
overall malty overtone.
Cigar Dirac... Thinner dark cola feel with a medium beige head...
Aroma of dark fruit and chocolate, not as concentrated but still
heavily so... Flavor is a touch thin bit with well pronounced dark
fruit and roasty nut flavors. Lesser bodied than bohr but still

750 ml bottle shared by Forgetfu (thanks Bill!) poured a translucent dark brown nearly black with a lasting brown head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit, light vanilla and light wood. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and dark fruit with a smooth lingering roasty finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml from fishingnet. Thanks, Ben! Pours a pitchblack opaque pour with a moderate frothy dark brown head, laces well. Aromas are sweet: cocoa, toffee, caramel with some touches of vanilla, biscuits. Initial is thicker, a heavier bodied sweet pour with caramel, toffee, biscuits, cocoa. Moving into sweet toffee, some dark fruit, roasty coffee. Really nice, full and flavorful. Finish is roasty, heavier, with some toast, sweet caramel. Nice. Very similar to it’s brother, a bigger sweet stout that is solid, but doesn’t push any boundaries it seems. I liked it just a little more than Dirac if I needed to choose.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
DLD 2011, thanks Adam: Beautifully dark with a rich lush tan head that left small bubbled lace and an oily appearance. The aroma has notes of raisin, prune, toast, roast, chocolate, espresso, leather, pipe tobacco, mineral water, slight smoke and rye esters as well. Hint of herbal hops around and about. The taste is more of the same goodness, sweet and lush malt profile finished off by a nice counter of bitterness from a hop presence and a coffee like twang. Lots of dark fruit, char, bakers chocolate, vanilla and bready notes. The mouth feel is smooth and oily but not to be point of becoming cloy and heavy, there is just enough alcohol the cleanse the palate. This is most excellent and even passed Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout as my favorite CCB brew. Get ya some!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
750mL pours deep darkness with nice looking dark mocha head. The aroma offers up smoothness with chocolate malt balls, some burnt toffee, faint wheat toast and a background of malt sweetness. The taste has full and bold dark roasted malts that are near burnt and then moving into sweet chocolate fudge brownie as well as some faint raisin like esteriness in the background. This is smooth and near creamy much like the difference noticed between CCB Either and Or. Yum.
