(Bottle) Pours black with a small head. The ara holds dark fruits, tart roast, light soy, brown sugar, mild spices, earth, tobacco, leather, asphalt and some hops. The flavour is medium dry, medium to heavily bitter and light acidic with notes of tart roast, salt liquorice, brown sugar, dark fruits, some hops and light spices. The mouthfeel round, oily, sticky and light tart with a light carbonation. Tart roast, hint of vanilla and some hops on the finish. Medium to full bodied.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JUL 15, 2012 750 ml bottle shared @ tkrjukoffs CCB Day tasting. Pours oily dark brown, almost blac, with a fizzy and creamy dark brown head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace. Smell is sweet and earthy with heavily roasted malts, raisins, alcohol, cinnamon, ginger, dark chocolate, coffee, resinous wood, vanilla, wet soil, wet leaves, moss and dark bread. Taste is sweet and salty with roasted malts, minerals, ammonium chloride, raisins, prunes, lemon zest, pine, wet soil, resinous wood, wet leaves, dark chocolate, cinnamon, cardamom, sweet dark bread, burnt caramel, alcohol and toffee. Mouthfeel is intense, sticky sweet, salty, boozy and full bodied. Finish is sweet and salty with roasted malts, coffee, burnt caramel, toffee, resinous wood, vanilla, cinnamon, minerals, wet soil and salty liquorice. Too much salt. Too much booze. Not for me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to Shaun for the bottle. Pours a deep, dark, coffee black with thin tan head on top. Cocoa, raisins and lots of roasty dark malt on the nose. Spices are hard to differentiate, but the aroma is definitely interesting. Deep raisin and red grape notes up front on the tongue followed by hints of anise, roasty char and an almost honey/syrup like sweetness. Low, but adequate carbonation. Body is super thick and slick. Lots of smooth weight to this one. Overall, this is a pretty interesting beer. I really like the fruity raisin notes that pair with the base stout. Also, the alcohol is well hidden. The only thing slowing me down from finishing the entire bottle is the thickness and fruity sweetness. Tasty beer, but definitely open it with another 2-3 people.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice dark brooding pour with a tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, dark fruits, spicy and sweet all hitting the nose at the same time! Nice roastiness as well.. Aroma improved over time. Viscosity was not an issue, full bodied and sticky. Tasted of dark chocolate, a little bit of bitterness from that as well. Raisins hit at the end. Alcohol very well hidden. Certainly not a one trick pony and one hell of a beer.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark black, very viscous. Aroma of sweet malts, cinnamon is very present. Taste follows, sweet and chewy. Age has raised this beer above Dirac in my opinion.

Big thanks to Adam for this bottle!
Pours pitch black with a little ring of head. smells like char and chocolate. Pretty dry on the palate but that is to be expected of CC stouts. I like this beer and glad I was able to try it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This poured almost a jet black color with a big creamy darker tan head. Aroma was of sweeter bakers chocolate and fudge, smoke, roasted malts, and some alcohol. Flavor was a bit of spice and dark fruit blendined with lots of fudge and smoke. Great stuff here.

Right next to Dirac for a side-by-side sampling. Draft at CCB’s 2012 Hunahpu release. The nose is mostly sweet dark chocolate with some roasted malt and some earthiness. Dark pour (obviously). I like the taste of this one a touch more, blending some light sweetness with a more earthy note and some tannins. A great stout.
