4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 daknole (7204) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 2, 2011
Black pour. Brown head. Molasses, raisins, chocolate, espresso, prunes. Flavor is sweet, smooth, more roast than Dirac, more light hops. Another great beer.
4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 dionysus (1443) - Arizona, USA - APR 24, 2011
Final four tasting at Daknole’s house. Pour is deep brown/black with a beige head. Aroma shows notes of roasted malt, pipe tobacco, cocoa powder, dark fruit, and earth. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of smoke, caramel, and espresso. Overall, I think I preferred this over both versions of Dirac.

Dark black, very viscous. Aroma of sweet malts, cinnamon is very present. Taste follows, sweet and chewy. Age has raised this beer above Dirac in my opinion.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 darkguardian (720) - Florida, USA - MAR 22, 2011
Pours a huge deep black. Nose is spectacular. Salty fudge, slightly meaty with some black bread and big roasted malt. Flavor is huge milk chocolate, some raisin and date character and that danish saltiness I find in many of their imperials. Smooth, dark, and fantastic this is my kind of imperial stout. Best thing Mikkeller has ever done.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hopscotch (8215) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 17, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 19, 2011 Bottle... Hunahpu’s Day 2011… This beer rocks!… Pours tar black with a small, creamy, beige head. Decent retention. The bouquet is a decadent, menacing swirl of charcoal, cinnamon, fudge, espresso, tobacco and dark chocolate with a glob of molasses and a suggestion of anise. Full-bodied and downright chewy with soft carbonation. The carbonaceous, bittersweet flavor offers blackstrap molasses, mocha and a gooey sliver of fudge. Hardy, nourishing, tobacco finish with a dash of salt – less salty than the Dirac. I think I’ll have another. Anybody got a spoon? World class beer!
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BBB63 (5411) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - MAY 1, 2011
DLD 2011, thanks Adam: Beautifully dark with a rich lush tan head that left small bubbled lace and an oily appearance. The aroma has notes of raisin, prune, toast, roast, chocolate, espresso, leather, pipe tobacco, mineral water, slight smoke and rye esters as well. Hint of herbal hops around and about. The taste is more of the same goodness, sweet and lush malt profile finished off by a nice counter of bitterness from a hop presence and a coffee like twang. Lots of dark fruit, char, bakers chocolate, vanilla and bready notes. The mouth feel is smooth and oily but not to be point of becoming cloy and heavy, there is just enough alcohol the cleanse the palate. This is most excellent and even passed Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout as my favorite CCB brew. Get ya some!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ibrew2or3 (5777) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 1, 2011
750mL pours deep darkness with nice looking dark mocha head. The aroma offers up smoothness with chocolate malt balls, some burnt toffee, faint wheat toast and a background of malt sweetness. The taste has full and bold dark roasted malts that are near burnt and then moving into sweet chocolate fudge brownie as well as some faint raisin like esteriness in the background. This is smooth and near creamy much like the difference noticed between CCB Either and Or. Yum.
