A: The beer pours a very dark brown color, almost black, with a thin tan head. S: Roasted malt and chocolate are the initial aromas. There is a nice bit of licorice and molasses to it as well. Just a bit of booze followed by coffee, mild vanilla, and some rum raisins. T: A mild smoke flavor which might just be from the intensely roasted malt character. A mild booze flavor, dark chocolate, and miscellaneous dark fruits. A nice burnt sugar sweetness as well as some earthy hops. M: Medium bodied with a smooth, medium carbonation. O: The fruit and sugar notes were nice and took away some of intensity from the roast.

Schytz (19) - Aalborg, DENMARK - SEP 25, 2011
Aroma: Sweet, sweet chocolate, slightest touch of alcohol, vague raisins. Appearance: Pitch black, roasted head, no retention. Taste: Fine but not complex, raisins, sweet chocolate, some coffee, roasted malts, slight alcohol, but less than in the aroma. Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Judging from the look a little watery. Overall: Too pricey, not complex compared to the price. My least favorite from the series. Nice label though! Love the Dirac and Bohr tribute.

75cl, CC version, new exclusive American brew Anno 2011, with raisins, thx to Jeppe!, complex sweet Stout, roasted/fruity and slightly vinous/spicy, balanced, hazy, small head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2014 Sampled at DLD 2011. Black pour with a deep tan head. Aroma of Brownies, baking chocolate, mild cake. Flavor is strong chocolate and roast, mild coffee. Delicious, yet subdued. Thick mouthfeel, nice carbonation. Pretty great beer, I’m pretty impressed. Again, I’m shocked by the depth of the malt component Cigar City lends to its beers.

Aroma: tons of chocolate, like fresh brownies, roast and coffee, caramel, lightly spicy, super rich and malty sweet. Pours inky black with tan head, some lacing. Flavor is very rich, again lots of cocoa and milk chocolate, dark fruits, raisins, toffee and caramel. Bitterness is fairly low, very smooth, malt sweetness is high, nice roast and coffee flavors which are quite smooth and mellow. Very full body, low-medium carbonation, smooth and creamy. Awesome brew, well done.

Bottle. Dark brown black pour with a small tan head. Aromas of dark fruits and deep roasted malts. The taste follows suit with more dark fruit, roasted malts, chocolate, and black liquorish.

750ml bottle courtesy of biggsbowler. thanks, randall! poured into my CCB snifter this one is a slick, oily black with that cigar city signature dark, rusted khaki head with great retention that leaves and oily sheen of lace on the glass. aroma is wonderful with huge roasted malts, molasses, and rich dark fruit esters of raisins and figs backed by dark chocolate, black coffee, and caramel with a touch of smoke lingering in the background. flavor is outstanding as well with heavy roasted malts, chocolate, and sweet molasses up front backed by subtle winter spices, raisins, figs, black cherries, and dry tobacco with hints of rum, toasted wood, and smoked meat. palate is rich and chewy (as these CCB stouts tend to be) with smooth carbonation and a huge, roasted and smoked finish. overall, another great imperial stout from CCB.
