It was nice to pick out the flavors of this non-BA version. The smell was full of roasted malts, coffee and earthy-cocoa aromas. It tasted like Tootsie-Rolls covered in coffee beans with a slight caramel twang. High ABV was concealed very well here.

3/13/12. On tap at the brewery. Dark black pour with a small brown head that fades to a ring but sticks. Rich aroma of dark chocolate, roast, dark fruits, raisins, and a hint of sour. Even richer, sweeter flavor at first with tons of dark fruits in the middle followed by lingering dry roastiness. Very tasty.
