De barril: Black colour, brown head. Lovely roasted maltiness with choclolate and dark fruits. Thick mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of roasted malt with coffee, chocolate and dark fruits. Sweet. Lovely brew.

Go in paranoid about rum barrels for some reason. Maybe bc im not a huge rum guy. But, the barrel was a nice compliment to this. Meshed well with the sweet raisin, Prune, sweet chocolate rum cake spice combo. Pretty good.

750 ml bottle from fishingnet. Thanks, Ben! Pours a murky blackish hue, dark and opaque with a frrothy darker brown head, laces ok as it dies to a thicker ring. Aromas are a melange of rum, oak, sweet brown sugar, roasted malts, toffee, coffee. Some dark fruit, more rum spirit, vanilla tannins are copious, touches of sugar cane. A lot of cocoa starts to come through with the oak, rum, and roast, toast, sweetness. Initial is medium bodied, a bit fuller, a nice roasty and ashy element moves into touches of raisins, a lot more dark fruit than the nose let on, with touches of spice, peanuts, wet oaky vanilla and rum spirit. More cocoa, some coffee, sweeter caramel and cocoa rues the day in the malt base, the raisins, with that touch of tartness and tannin merges into that rum barrel element. I remember liking Bohr the most of the two Collab stouts.. And I think this is no exception. The barrel gives it some complexity with the sweeter rum, vanilla, spice, and brown sugar. Touch of cinnamon. Finish leaves some decent barrel tannins, roast, and dry cocoa. Quality, the barrel element is well done, the base beer is great, and they just work very well together.

750 ml bottle thanks to David. Pours an awesome jet black hue with a dark brown large head, a super viscous body that coats the glass. The aroma is massive earthy sweet malts, some heat, caramel, and rum. A spicy sweet flavor with shovels of dirt in the finish and sweet rum barrel and some heat. A nice robust palate. Very nice and unique, not quite like most higher gravity stouts, this shows off some nice qualities.

Huge thanks to jjfoodie for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a nice-sized brown head. It looks like I expect Cigar City stouts to look. The aroma is heavy on the chocolate and roasted malt. I also get some dark fruit (raisins and figs) as well as a little bit of rum and oak notes. The flavor is awesome. I get a ton of milk chocolate as well as a lot of rum and raisins. The beer is fairly sweet overall and the alcohol is very well hidden. There is a little bit of oak in the flavor, but what really comes through from the barrel-aging is the rum. An awesome combination of flavors. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Another highly-rated stout from Cigar City that certainly lived up to the hype.

bottled, thanks to jjfoodie, one of the best stouts I have had in awhile, black brown color with a malty licorice, molasses aroma and flavor of dark cocoa, raisins, coffee, no heat easy drinker, CCB lived up to the hype on this one

#2900! Bottle courtesy jjfoodie. Extremely dark black color. Dark appearance with a nice brown head. Thick legs. Aroma is pretty intense. Heavy dark chocolate with roasted malts, raisins and oak. Lovely aroma. Flavor is fantastic. Lots of dark malts and super sweet chocolate. Lovely rum and oak tones that finish in a roasted awesomeness. It also has a nice cinnamon spice character towards the finish. Fantastically sweet and smooth.

750ml bottle. Pour is typical for a CCB stout which is to say it looks fantastic - pitch black with no light passing through. Small but thick mocha head that recedes to a thin collar and leaves a little lacing. Aroma has so much going on with sweet rum notes alongside chocolate covered raisins, oak and a little tobacco (which I always seem to get in CCB stouts). Taste is sweet up front with the rum and chocolate coming through on top of overripe dark fruits dipped in brown sugar. The finish is lightly spicy with tobacco, oak and leather. Though there is a nice lingering sweetness on the palate. The mouthfeel is absolutely decadent. Silky smooth, close to full bodied but with enough carbonation to soften things up. I’m not sure I can imagine a better mouthfeel. To say that CCB knows their impy stouts would be a massive understatement as it seems that ever one they put out is world-class or close to it (Hunahpu and variations, Zhukov, 110K b2, etc.). This is right up there with those beers - fantastic.

750ml bottle shared at a tasting. Dark black color with a lasting tan head. Huge roasty aroma with molasses, anise, rum, and cinnamon. The flavor reminds me of a lot of of other Cigar City stouts, probably because they’re all from the same base beer (zing!). Complex with dark fruit, raisins, prunes, roast, dark chocolate, cinnamon and spice, and rum barrel. VERY heavy on the mouthfeel, insanely heavy like -bal aged Hunahpu’s or something, with low carbonation. Sticky as hell and syrupy. Pretty good beer, but I’d like it to be a bit more drinkable.
