Bottle from bytemesis, big thank you. Very dark, no foam. Boozy aroma, chocolate and dark fruit (raisins), almond. Similar flavor, booze, almond, raisins. Fair attempt, just too strong alcohol notes.

Review from backlog, 06/23/2011. Pours pitch black, with a dark tan head that quickly fades. Aroma is rich chocolate brownie, not overly sweet, with spices, mostly cinnamon, mildly sweet grapes, rum raisin and brown sugar. Taste is initially sweet, dark fruits, prunes and currants, slightly smoky, ends with gentle roast and mild dark chocolate, coffee finish. Body is rich and creamy, flavors blending nicely. Really enjoyed this one- the rum barrel treatment and raisins bring a nice richness, a great treat.

75cl bottle, courtesy of ibrew2or3. Split with my brother.

Bottle, many thanks to Jack. It pours opaque darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is rich-roasted malt, soy sauce, toasted sesame seed, rum & raisin ice-cream, wood and coffee. The taste is roasted malt, earth, toast, wood, dark fruit, alcohol warmth, motor oil, rum dark fruit and spice. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Only slight negative is the soy notes, but damn this is a tasty beer.

Bottle @ Bruce’s. Picked up from Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny head. The nose is really jam. Full of red berries, raisin, prunes. Trail mix. A bit of chocolate and biscuit. The taste is similar. Plenty of dark fruits. Pear, plum, prunes and strawberry. Boozy rum raisin cake and burnt brown sugar. Very distinctive, bold flavors. This should be cloying and sweet, but it somehow isn’t. Nicely rounded. Overall, pretty excellent. CCB make some great stuff.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Big cheers to Jack. Opaque black - brown beer, small dark tan head. Nice rum and raisin nose. Light dry palate, airy and smooth. Mild fine carbonation. Rich dark malt with the rum and raisin carrying over from the nose. Creamy dark malt, touch of vanilla and some pruney dark fruits emerging from the depths. Semi dry finish. Engaging and tasty and also pretty easy drinking.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Big thanks to Jack! Pours like motor oil with a thick, creamy brown head. Sugary dark malts in the nose, some hard alcohol, booze-soaked raisins, dark bread. Big sweet flavor, lots of charred malts, syrupy dark sugars, raisins, burnt wood, rich roast, sweet dark chocolate, some earth, baking cocoa. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation, pretty creamy. Warming finish, lots of ripe and sugary dark fruits, dates and some figs, raisins, burnt wood, heavy dark malts, brownies. Rich and ballsy but still with a bit of restraint.

Bottle sample at CBC 2013. Ett riktigt dessertöl. Romrussin, choklad, rom och massor av sötlakrits. Sött, fylligt, komplex, men ändå en ganska torr avslutning. Fantastiskt!
