2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
In short: A disturbingly sweet syrupy spicy purée of a beer. In small samples only
How: Bottle 750ml shared at a Montreal tasting. Consumed approximately 10 months after the bottle release
The look: Black body topped by small beige head
In long: Nose is rich viscous dark malts, xmass beer style spiciness, cardboard, alcohol fumes. Taste is viscous raisins purée, uber-sweet cinnamon bun, dark caramel, soy sauce, some anise, booze. I thought it was acceptable at first as another over-the-top CCB sugar bomb, but ‘thanks’ to a few friends who really didn’t like it from the first sip I ended up with a rather large 6oz+ sample, and man was it hard to drink. Sickeningly sweet and viscous like motor oil. Another overrated boozy sugar bomb. However saying that people who give all boozy sugar bombs high ratings is what is wrong about ratebeer would be making the wrong assumption there is something good about ratebeer.

A - no head. Midnight black. Alcohol
S - Huge mocha smell. Unsweetened chocolate and huge bourbon oak smell. Yeah. All chocolate. Strip maybe cane syrup?
T - Wow. Tobacco. Gigantic dark malts. Boozy and loaded with cocoa. Slight hint of whiskey. Not a big whiskey taste. Raisins.
M - 50/50. Heavy body. Super viscous like oil.
O - Wow. 5/5 love this. 10 across the board. Amazing.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours thick, dark, oil, and viscous in color with a small but beautiful cinnamon dark mocha cacao head. The aroma brings a beautiful lighter blend of sweet raisins, rum, and a bit of cinnamon, a sweet stout for sure with subtle additions. The body has lost a good bit of carbonation, but is still creamy and delicious. The flavors bring sweet roasted malt notes, some sweet sugar from the rum and raisins, but blended not distinct notes of each. The cinnamon is gone at this point. Probably even better fresher, but delicious overall.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I have never seen a beer pour this thick before - like motor oil! Rum rasin, alcohol, cinnamon, vanilla and a little roast. Very cohesive. A brut - rich and decadent. Lots of rum, but never dominating the beer. Sweet, but not cloying. A delight.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rich and oily mouthfeel. Slight vanilla, caramelized dark fruits. I think CCB is about the only place around that I can really get behind their rum beers. The rum is a minor component for me.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours black with a mocha head, lacing and pure viscosity around my bruery tulip. Aroma is slightly boozy, rum, brown sugar and spices. Taste is smoother than the nose. Rum, brown sugar, raisins and cinnamon. This beer has the classic ccb viscosity. I love it!
