Deep blackish pour with a nice brown head. Aroma is loaded with port soaked raisins, rum, oak, chocolate, and brown sugar. Flavor is so rich and sweet. The rum offers some sweetness and warmth, the raisins, chocolate and light cinnamon shines through. Winner!

750ml bottle tasted at Daknole’s Memorial Day "Throw Down". Thanks Dak, for sharing this one. Pours "midnight in the forest" black. Smallish brown head. Ale stains glass. Aroma is dark fruit, brown sugar, rum and chocolate. Taste is rummy, raisiny, brown sugary, with loads of chocolate. Finish is all the above, plus a warm and boozy "goodbye". One of the best American ales I’ve tasted.

10 cl from a bottle at SBWF 2011. Black with a minimal tan head. What a wonderful beer! Dark fruits, reisin, chocolate, toffee....and so on. Complex and heavy but in the same time very drinkable. I love this beer!

Nielsbohrium – Tasted Blind at a tasting party in Gent

A - no head. Midnight black. Alcohol Legs.

S - Huge mocha smell. Unsweetened chocolate and huge bourbon oak smell. Yeah. All chocolate. Strip maybe cane syrup?

T - Wow. Tobacco. Gigantic dark malts. Boozy and loaded with cocoa. Slight hint of whiskey. Not a big whiskey taste. Raisins.

M - 50/50. Heavy body. Super viscous like oil.

O - Wow. 5/5 love this. 10 across the board. Amazing.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours pitch black with a fucking dark tan head. Nose has so much going for it - vanilla, dry cocoa, molasses, stewed dark fruits, brown sugar, spice and it’s very brandy forward stuff. Despite the overwhelming notes, everything is in perfect unison. The spice and apple brandy mingle unbelievably well. Taste is a balanced rollercoaster of flavours beginning with heavy raisin sweetness before dry cocoa nibs and vanilla come into play. The rum spiciness really rounds it off and adds something special to the finish. Sweet without being too viscous or oily. The finish just keeps changing and growing. It has a light astringent bitterness which melds with the vanilla pod-like sweetness and just stays and stays. The rum spice just keeps growing and it goes with this beer insanely well. Lacks a touch of creaminess on the body is probably my only qualm. The mild warmth you get from this is damn pleasing though. Absolutely incredible

Tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Cph.
[my 7,400th rating]
Pours utterly completely black with a lovely, small, staying, creamy brown ring of head. Aroma is powerfully roasted, sweet malts, chocolate, liqourice, soft oakiness, light vinious and mild coffee. Medium carbonation, extremely lovely creamy and light dry palate. Flavour is through the roof! Sweet as base but with roasted malts aplenty, hops aplenty. Light smokiness - probably from the barrel. Cocoa and chocolate, mild fruitiness. The craziest lingering aftertaste with dark chocolate, light oak, dried fruits and mild liqourice. This is truly a magnificent beer.

Tap at ChurchKey. Pours a jet black with a thin coffee head and ample carbonation. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, raisin, and rum. Very sweet flavor of caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, raisins and rum. Silky smooth mouth-feel. Amazing.

(Sampled at Dak’s Memorial Day tasting. Thanks Dak!!). Pours black with a thin tan head. Coats the glass as do many cigar city stouts. Aroma has vanilla, rum and dark pit fruit. Taste is sweet with a roasty bitterness, but it is very well balanced. Medium bodied with a slick texture. Smooth finish. This was a great beer and one of my favorites of the day. Ohh, to have a bottle of this all to myself....

Thanks to Sean9689 for this... pours a dark black body with a dark tan head, a decent head rises but fails to thin ring... nose is outstanding, the best rum barrel aged beer I’ve come across, unreal sweet rum and coconut notes, subtle rum with a hint of roast... taste is fantastic, totally a bohr and dirac blend with a lot of roast and smoke coming through but its smoothed out and muted by the rum which adds a great sweet quality to this... palate is perfect, velvet alcohol... this is the real deal, get this
