Moat Water is a stout brewed with lactose and Skatepart of Tampa’s own moat water, then aged with coffee, vanilla beans and Canadian maple wood veneers. As for the flavor... think All You Can Eat chocolate chip pancakes and bottomless coffee. It’s appearance is dark, just like your future if you dare to partake in the infamous Moat Race during Skatpark of Tampa’s legendary Tampa AM and Tampa PRO.

Black in color with a tan head. Really nice coffee, vanilla, and chocolate aromas. Hints of wood, some spice, and a weird chlorine note. The flavor has some green pepper and chlorine which really ruin an otherwise nice beer. Roasted malt, vanilla, lactose, coffee, and chocolate.

Big thanks to Leighton for bringing the remainder of this one along to CBC for me to rate, 22/04/13. Mid black with a thin beige head which dissipates to nyadda. Nose carries dark fruit tones, chocolate, molasses, light spice - a little on the thin side for an 8% ABV beer. Taste comprises rich chcolate souffle, sweet brown sugars, soy sauce. Full bodied with moderate carbonation, sweet and chocolatey finish. Decent fayre.

Pour is close to black, viscus, large chocolate colored head. Chocolate sweetness and coffee shine through in the aroma with more subtle notes of vanilla beans and coffee creamer. Flavor is very heavy on the roasted coffee with a bit of maple syrup and chocolate as well. Alcohol is very well hidden. Milky, creamy, smooth.

Bottle @ Stouts Tasting Pt III: Brokeback Edition. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny tan head. Robust sweet coffee nose. Accents of chili chocolate. Cream and marshmallow. The taste is very sweet. Rocky road fudge. More marshmallow and sweet chocolate cake. Mild roast in the finish. Smooth and very easy to drink. Alcohol’s hidden well. Oily body. Overall, very nice to share.

Bottle at Stout 3 & Freestyle Tasting, thanks to Jack. It pours near black with a thick dark tan head. The nose is roasted malt, smooth sweetness, maple, vanilla, chocolate gateaux and earth. The taste is roasted malt, earth, vanilla, ashy, dark fruit, light coffee, burnt notes, faint liquorice and toast with a dry, light roasted finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Well balanced. Not massively complex, but pretty tasty nonetheless.

UPDATED: APR 22, 2013 Bottle at the Stouts Pt. III & Others Tasting - London. Thanks to Jack! Pours deep, black-brown with a tight, creamy beige cap. Lots of rich, kind chocolate in the nose, touches of vanilla, hints of burnt wood. Big sweet flavor without being cloying, plenty of chocolate, vanilla, some dark fruits, mild bitterness, cocoa. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Light warmth to finish, sugary chocolate, mild roast, chocolate candies, mellow vanilla. Very tasty stuff. (4.2)

Bottle shared on the RBWG 2013 bus. Pours oily black-brown with a creamy, brown foam head. Ashy roast aroma, some charred wood. Big sweet flavor with more burnt wood, marshmallow, bittersweet chocolate, strong roasted malts. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with rich dark malts, more charred wood, some vinous texture, baking cocoa. Very nice stuff. (4.1)
