COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moat Water is a stout brewed with lactose and Skatepart of Tampa’s own moat water, then aged with coffee, vanilla beans and Canadian maple wood veneers. As for the flavor... think All You Can Eat chocolate chip pancakes and bottomless coffee. It’s appearance is dark, just like your future if you dare to partake in the infamous Moat Race during Skatpark of Tampa’s legendary Tampa AM and Tampa PRO.

Bottle pour thanks to Armin...Beer of the night in my book! Pour is a thick and rich black, with a dark mocha head that sticks around to leave some sticky candy lacing. Aroma is bakers chocolate, vanilla, milk caramel. Lots of coffee as well. Lightly bready. Taste...holy god this tasted amazing. The amount of chocolate present in this beer was insane. Chocolate covered whoppers! I have a hard time believing that chocolate was not used in any way here! Truly just a great blend of sweet malt, chocolate, and coffee. Finish is sticky sweet, with a lingering coffee taste. I would take this over KBS or any number of other coffee stouts. Fantastic beer!

Bottle: Thanks Trevor: Served in a Duvel glass: Dark almost (pitch) black pour which leaves a pitch black beer in the glass with a medium sized brown foamy head. Looks good! Aroma has loads earthy coffee roast tones with some cacoa, chalk, coal, wood roast. Quite a complex aroma. Very nice. Flavour is good coffee roast with some dark chocolate, bitters, earthy tones, some malt roast, coal, wood roast and a hint of something like light vanilla. Aftertaste is roast, coffee, nuts, malt roast, some light earthy tones and coal. Low carbo, light creamy mouthfeel, more towards a full body and a light creamy light watery texture. Very nice beer!

Bottle 750ml.

Clear dark black brown colour with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bourbon, moderate roasted. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, vanilla, vanilla beans, chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130913]

pours very dark brown with a thick beige head offering a good retention and nice lacing patterns. burnt chocolate bar, vanilla, cherries and blackberries, sweet molasses and fresh cream - not necessarily cloying, cedar-like woodsiness, then again it’s probably maple.. also some licorice, grass, resin, slightly cakey, ashes. moderate to low carbonation, full body - oily and sticky, sweet grassy-slightly resinous-ashy finish. nice one. enjoyed!

Bottle at the Triad bottle share at Foothills organized by Mike. Heavy on the sweet vanilla beans. Minimal maple sweetness. Moderate dark chocolate syrupyness, if that’s a word. Annnd we’re back to the vanilla.

Bottle 750ml. Pours black with very high creamy light brown head. Nice lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, metal, coffee, milk. Taste is of roasted malt, nuts, sweetness, bitter (faintly), milk, some acidity. Palate: Full body. Poor balance. Foamy texture. Overall: Could have been better, but the palate is somewhat repulsive. Too sweet too. Still decent.

Bottle shared by tom10101, thanks! Pour is black with a medium "milk chocolate" head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of ash and dark chocolate. I usually despise ash in a stout but this time it wasn’t disturbing and almost fitting. Taste is sweet and milky, full of milk chocolate impressions. Body is full, carbonation medium. Altough a touch too sweet for me, it is still really good. This is one to be shared, way too much sugar for a single person!
