4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 HighWine (842) - Whalesbro, Illinois, USA - JAN 12, 2013Oct 25, 2012 edition Bottle to Stone IRS tulip. I actually said "wow" as I poured this. It’s much thicker than I thought with a consistency reminiscent of used motor oil. Not much head and no visible carbonation with a swirl, the liquid briefly stains the glass similarly (but not as heavily) as Marshal Z. Big coffee and potting soil aroma. Again, wow. Very flavorful. Strong brewed coffee, dark chocolate syrup, and bourbon vanilla extract. Pretty clean finish except for a little lingering coffee bitterness, vanilla essence, and a touch of oxidation.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 GODFROMANAL (14) - Illinois, USA - MAY 20, 2013
First of all, let me just say this…I recently made a PB&J and the toaster acted screwy - neglected to toast a slice! (The other was beautifully charred, however.) And, while I was miffed initially, upon biting into the mistake…I was floored! Pillowy at first, then a terrifically satisfying crunch (the flavor profiles differed too, obviously - sweet then char. Amazing.) … This beer is a stout, brewed by CCB. Ipso facto it looks incredible. Smell is chocolate chip pancakes. Taste is much the same, with a subdued coffee presence (wish I’d tried this fresher, admittedly…)… Surprisingly prominent maple wood presence. Tastes kinda like something Struise would make actually? Or, hmm…maybe kinda like Brunch Weasel? Something like that. W/e - really outstanding shit. Feel is OUT OF CONTROL. Full and milkshake-y. Surprise, surprise - CCB has produced another winner. Thanks, Homer321!!!

17th April 2013 Stouts III Tasting. Thanks to Jack, always good to try another CCB beer. Opaque dark brown with a good pale tan head. Light airy palate, soft. Rich dark chocolate, fruity! A little citrus hop in the semi dry finish.

Sampled at esbls. Dark black with red. A beige ring. Smoky, chocolatey tobacco. Chocolate is tasted with maple with coffee. I like this. And the feel is silky but thick.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 adam42381 (361) - Fort Myers, Florida, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Poured from a 750ml bottle into a Cigar City snifter. Bottled on October 25, 2012 printed on label.
Appearance: Pours a motor oil black with a 1/2 finger toffee brown head which dissipates quickly leaving a ring around the edge of the snifter. Very nice lacing.
Smell: Medium roasted coffee, vanilla, and milk chocolate with a touch of molasses. Excellent aroma.
Taste: Medium roasted malt, semisweet chocolate, sweet vanilla and molasses up front followed by coffee and sweet cream in the middle before ending with espresso and burnt toast at the finish. Aftertaste is bitter and roasty with a hint of cocoa.
Mouthfeel: Full-bodied with a good amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: Excellent drinkability. A very smooth beer that goes down way too easily for 8% ABV.
Overall: Excellent beer overall. This reminds me a lot of CCB’s Marshal Zhukhov’s Imperial Stout except with less booziness. I may enjoy this one even more because it’s not quite as heavy. I know this is probably the only time I’ll ever get to try it since it was a one time brew, but if I see it again I’m jumping all over it. If you see it, try it.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hopdog (7657) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 8, 2013
750ml bottle. Poured a dark brown, almost black with an off white head. Chocolate, milk shake, lactose, roasty, woody, vanilla and coffee. I really liked this one and it grew on me more and more as I drank it.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 womencantsail (6896) - Garbage Grove, California, USA - MAY 7, 2013
Black in color with a tan head. Really nice coffee, vanilla, and chocolate aromas. Hints of wood, some spice, and a weird chlorine note. The flavor has some green pepper and chlorine which really ruin an otherwise nice beer. Roasted malt, vanilla, lactose, coffee, and chocolate.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Theydon_Bois (2957) - The ’Sham, Surrey, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2013
Big thanks to Leighton for bringing the remainder of this one along to CBC for me to rate, 22/04/13.
Mid black with a thin beige head which dissipates to nyadda.
Nose carries dark fruit tones, chocolate, molasses, light spice - a little on the thin side for an 8% ABV beer.
Taste comprises rich chcolate souffle, sweet brown sugars, soy sauce.
Full bodied with moderate carbonation, sweet and chocolatey finish.
Decent fayre.

Pour is close to black, viscus, large chocolate colored head. Chocolate sweetness and coffee shine through in the aroma with more subtle notes of vanilla beans and coffee creamer. Flavor is very heavy on the roasted coffee with a bit of maple syrup and chocolate as well. Alcohol is very well hidden. Milky, creamy, smooth.
