Draught at the Pony Bars Cigar City Event NYC sept 2012. Nice clear amber beer with a small offwhite lacy head. Malty and floral aroma. Malty, floral, hoppy and some kind of herbal grass flavour. To much floral flavour for me...

Color is a hazy cloudy brown with a slight reddish tint. Flavor is mostly driven by the malts here, but that’s too be expected for this style. Slightly sweet with a little bit of bitterness on the back end.

Draft @ redlight redlight. Sweet caramel malts on the nose. Pours amber gold with a solid white head. Light caramel malts upfront with some grassy hops and a crisp finish. Very light and crisp very refreshing

Growler purchased at the brewery and consumed on 3/13/12. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a half finger white head that immediately settles into a thin ring.  Minimal spots of lace left behind. Earthy aroma with lots of soil and grassy hops balanced by sweet malt notes. Hints of caramel and toffee followed by bread and biscuit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation but slightly watered down.  Decent balance of earthy, grassy hops, straw, hay, bread and sweet malts.  Hints of biscuit, caramel and toffee.  Decent but a bit watered down and too earthy/soily tasting for my liking.

Aroma of toffee, malts and a nice hickory. Pours bronze with almost no head. Taste is nice and hearty. Great notes of toffee and yeast. Sweeter than your average marzen.

what i really like about this one, unlike most oktoberfests, is that it has a nice balance of hoppiness to even out the malty graininess and darker sugars. its refreshing, bright, clean without being too cloying like other Octs. very nice indeed.

Draft. Pours hazy light amber with a nice off-white head, some retention/no lace. Aroma of toffee, light grassy hops, citrus, earth. Taste is toffee, light grassy bitterness, earth, caramel. Palate is soft, creamy, somewhat thin, grassy finish. OK.

otakuden (1783) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 22, 2012
Appearance: light copper and orange. Soft white head and a solid white collar of foam. Collar branches out along sides of glass rim.
Nose: tangerines, peaches, apricots, and mango. Sweet, chewy, and meaty. Melba crust and spice in the back – cinnamon sticks. Orange rind. Brisk.
Palate: sweet spiced tropical fruits – spice is in the back. Apricots and peach skins – pits for bitterness. Essence of cinnamon and nutmeg weave in and out. Piles of fall leaves in the yard.
Final Thoughts: a nice Floridian take on the Oktoberfest style from Germany. Not too much complexity but the flavors were clean, precise, and blended together nicely.
