4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black with a small but lasting tan head. Aroma of licoriice and citrus, lots of orange peel, with some dark chocolate. The aroma is complex and very inviting. Sweet flavour with lots of toffee, some licorice and a hint of roasted flavour. Lots of fruity hops, along with hop bitterness and a tannic cedar bitterness

Bottle shared at Ma Che in Rome. Pours black-brown with a foamy tan head. Burnt cedar wood on the nose with darkened grapes as well. Medium sweet flavor with lightly jammy dark fruits, light chocolate, grape jelly, mellow dry cedar wood. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Light warmth to finish with a bit of bitter baking cocoa, earth, ripe and sweet berries. Lovely. Great depth of character.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A: The beer pours a very dark brown color with a thin layer of off-white/tan foam.
S: Fairly heavy on the roast and chocolate notes with a moderate licorice quality. Some mild booze is also in there. A solid hop presence with a nice citrus (grapefruit) and pine note.
T: Grapefruit and other citrus hops are prominent up front. A mild pineapple flavor as well as some grass and a hint of pine round out the hop profile. Fairly roasty with a nice hint of licorice.
M: Medium to full in body with a medium level of carbonation.
O: I was expecting this to be pretty harsh at 11%, but really nice and easy to drink.

Draft at CC. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, dark honey, wood and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy toasted honey sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a good but not a standout beer.
