Bottle... Clear golden ale with orange highlights and a small, creamy, white head. Fantastic retention. The bouquet is of musky, earthy, peppery hops and a suggestion of papaya. Medium-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavor offers pleasant toffee malts, but musky hop bitterness and awkward fruit essences spoil the fun for me. Finishes bittersweet and a touch fruity. I prefer the base beer… assuming the base beer is Jai Alai Ipa. Bottle courtesy of hankchinaski!

Tap at Rattle N Hum. Pretty chunky, ugly pour. The nose is lightly tropical with a kiss of light papaya and slightly vegetal character. A bit of sticky chewy character although the fruity sweetness comes through. Fairly tropical although it does come across as a bit too sweet despite the ample hoppiness.

Bottle: Pours a clear deep bronze with a stringy-lacing from of white head. Nose has a fresh piny hop character with a touch of tropical fruit and light malty sweetness. Starts with a pretty good fullness and light toasted malty sweetness with light fruity papaya character and good juicy hop bitterness before a drier bittersweet finish. A pretty flavorful and unique IPA.

Bottle thanks to billshmeinke. Pours with a completely cleared penny hued body with a lasting off-white, rocky head. Aromas of papaya, dried fruits, mint, pine, and light tropical fruit. Flavors of light fruit, some pine, dried, apricot, some papaya in the finish. Really bland honestly. Some sweetness, table sugar, noticeable alcohol for how low the abv is. Lively bubbles, dry. Really ho-hum. Where are the hops?

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2010 On cask at Cigar City takes NYC event at Rattle ’N’ Hum. Fruitiness. papaya aroma, much sweeter than it is bitter. You must like papaya and what it does for your digestion. Interesting and good palate cleanser and changeup from all the cedar/imperial stouts.

Bottle. Pours clear gold with a medium, fizzy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma and flavor are medium malt (straw, meal), heavy hops (grassy, citrus, floral, pine), and lots of fruit (peach, pineapple, papaya) with alcohol notes. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation with a dry finish.
