3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2012 12 oz. bottle served in a goblet.
Pours a dark and hazy brown with a small tan head that soon reduces to a durable ring.
The interesting, unusual and distinctive aroma [7.5] is spicy and sweet. Hard to pick individual spices out of this complex mix, but cardamon and cinnamon seem clear. Solid roasted malt base with notes of figs and other dark fruits.
T: Holiday spices start to finish, but not to the degree suggested by the aroma, thankfully. Roasted malts are still evident, and lend some chocolate and faint coffee to the finish and aftertaste. Hints of ginger, caramel, toffee, chamomile, plum, dried plum, figs.
M: Medium in body, with good carbonation.
O; A rich and spicy holiday brown ale with a distinctive pallet of spices. Has great complexity and flavor dynamics. A bit sweet and approaches over-spiced, but this is a winter holiday ale. Well worth seeking out.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
20th February 2012
Very hazy dark amber - purple beer! Small pale tan head. Light dry palate. Dry spices - cinnamon and others. Trace of plum fruit underneath all the spice. Semi dry finish. What a naff one dimensional beer, so much spice! Easily the worst CCB beer I’ve had.

Sweet dark fruit aromas. Brown sugar, dark fruit, and a slight raisin flavor. Overall a very good brown.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark amber/brown with a ruby hue in the light and small head. Smells like plums, raisins, sour cherry, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg. Spices are subdued in the aroma and it is more fruit than anything else. Spices dominate flavor though, with a cinnamon plum nutmeg combo. Medium mouthfeel and pretty smooth. Finishes slightly dirty. About what I expected, a bit bland, and not something I will have again. Just can't get into the studf with cinnamon/nutmeg overpowering the flavor. They did what they wanted here, but I would have preferred a seeeter brew with lots of fruit.

12 ounce bottle pour from local IP trade. Very unique and interesting Christmas beer. Chamomile was surprisingly noticeable to me.

3.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sugar Plum Brown has a faint aroma of Christmas spices. Color is a nice brown. Christmas cookie spices don’t overpower but accent the wonderful CCB brown ale flavor. The flavors linger a bit but the aftertaste quickly goes stale. Overall, a nice take on a CCB seasonal selection.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours brown with no head whatsoever. Aroma of dark fruit, coriander and clove. Medium body with minimal carbonation. Flavor is sour fruit and spice. Decent Xmas beer, but could use a bit more body.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
No love from Aurelius on this one. Murky brown, negligable head, standard US longneck, bad label. Pungent spiced aroma, sweet with black olives and cinnamon. A very light vinegar flavor, dry, a bit tart, some grassiness towards the end. Medium body. A little ginger burn on the back end, and it warms the esophagus. A bit like some of the less drinkable Anchor Christmas ales. Don’t drink cold. Market Square Liquors, Timberlane.

On tap at shamrock in Sarasota. Hazy brown pour white head dissipates. Nutty dark fruit aroma. Light to medium body. Dry brown ale with a hint of dark fruit. Better than last years but still a bit underwhelming.
