Tap at Kickback’s in Jax, FL. The pour is a muddy deep brown with a medium tan head. Nice wispy lace remains. Nose is muted gingerbread and cocoa powder with sour dark fruits. Very nice. Taste is very delicious: delicate but obvious gingerbread, spicy ginger, nutmeg, no off character. Palate is fuller and silky with chocolate milkshake component. In the finish some very intense but welcome capsaicin like spice from the ginger. Not construed spice character. Does not feel forced; rather quite integrated as a winter time beer. Excellent.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 otakuden (1616) - Vero Beach, Alabama, USA - APR 24, 2012
Appearance: chestnut browns under an average khaki head with bubbles ringing the side. Head fades into a small filmy puddle in the middle. Swirls thick along the sides but no lace.
Nose: cooked melted caramelized brown sugar and sugar in the raw. Meaty dates, prunes, and raisins find a home in dense, moist, chewy cinnamon laced bread. Fig cake, fruit cake. Maraschino.
Palate: yummy! Cooked brown sugar sweetness mingles with prunes and dates. Fruitcake underneath finishes with maraschino cherries. As it warms up, tannic tartness nips at the back of my tongue with plum skins, leather, and dry red wine. Surprisingly medium-light body with a clean, slightly silky mouthfeel. Stewed and boozed prunes, raisins, plums, and purple grapes.
Final Thoughts: I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this beer. I feared excessive sweetness and cloying tendencies and got the exact opposite. Delicately rich and sophisticated, I hope Cigar City releases this winter wonderland again this year.

Bottle. Bomber split with Vinnie for my fist beer of December, on the first of December, 2011. Pours deep bloody mahogany cherry with beige lacing round the rims and leaves big dirty-snowy footprints in its wake. Aroma is ridiculous; pure fugde, bitter cocoa, oatmeal rasin sugar cookies, cinnamon, cardamom, and honey glazed rasins. Medium-full bodied with a small, slight mouthfeel. Flavors are dominated by oatmeal cookie, bitter dark cocoa, and some wieird chalky notes in the slow, easy finish. Good stuff.

Bottle. Sweet taste of brown sugar, prunes and spices. Deep purple color with a nice smokey taste and scent. I had this one with a great Rockey Patel Cigar. Not sure why I havent done that sooner with some of their beers. Awesome

Brown, maybe a dark burnt orange. Minimal head, thin, creamy color. Not as spicy as expected, very nice and balanced. It is not too spicy at all, I think it is very nice in the spice. It was a bit cold upon consumption and some more spice may have come through after it warmed a bit more. Even after letting it warm while drinking it however, it was still a nice balance of spice. Nice beer! Thanks Dak!

Bottle, thanks to Diego at the Abraxas Lounge, Miami Beach. It pours very dark brown with ruby highlights and a thick beige head. The nose is clove, cinnamon, cardamom, cherry cola, sweet plum, caramel and earth. The taste is brown sugar, wood, earth, plum, prune, raisin, fig, light spice and cherry cola, with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not actually as sweet as anticipated! Well balanced and delicious.

What a unique beer. Nose is full of spices and some slightly fruity tones. Ginger and cardamom stick out making the scent very unique. Pours out a nice dark brown with a thin, quickly dying head. Taste is pure spice and light hops. Some cinnamon and ginger notes come through nicely with a touch of coffee/roast. Would be a great after dinner beer on a Christmas eve/night.

Capped 750 from dimenhetfield. Pours very dark and ruddy with a eige smear for head. Aroma is very spicy. Med body. Flavor is gritty brown malt with complex fruit and spice. I can’t pin down a single flavor. It’s malty, but not very sweet. Good drink.

Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 750 ml bottle. Pours a dark chestnut brown with a long lasting, bubbly off-white head; brief lacing. Pleasant, spicy aroma with hints of ginger, anise seed, a bit of sweet molasses. Flavor is mellow but full bodied. Some mild chocolate notes, a hint of cinnamon, a bit of a ginger bite in the back end. Reminds me a bit of a Christmas cookie. would make a great session ale. Thick, smooth mouthfeel.
