Cigar City Brewing’s official celebration of Christmas. A rich-bodied brown ale forms the stage for holiday flavors which dance a festive ballet highlighted by pirouetting leaps of Christmas inspired spices. Cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, rose hips and chamomile compliment the subtle chocolate and light coffee notes of the malt and the addition of roasted carob and chicory complete the performance. Brewed once a year to celebrate the Christmas season. Pair with fresh cracked nuts, fruit cake and share with friends and family. Merry Christmas from the CCB family!

Bottle:   Deep cola, moderate frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Spicy nose, candied walnuts and cardemum, minor clove.   Has a sort of allspice flair.   Similar on the tongue, not too heavy.   Has a sweet earthy and and bark type background.   Its very shrubby, almost juniper.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Lingering woodsy like spices.   This is one of those beers that you do enjoy, but you keep drinking it to better understand it and then before you know it, the beer is gone.   Thanks for the bottle Jason!

From old tasting notes. 750 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown color and topped by a thin layer of tan colored foam that settles quickly to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of dark chocolate malts, dark fruits with plums and figs, roast, and a melody of winter spices with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. The flavor follows with the plums and figs up front followed by notes of chocolate malts, toasted bread, some earthy roast, and the mixture of winter spices with cinnamon showing the most. Medium bodied with ample carbonation that leads to a lengthy, fruity and spice finish. Nice take on the brown ale style.

Pours a nice brown color with off-white head. Sweet dark fruits on the nose, with some subtle spices; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice little sweetness.

On tap at the tasting room. Dark brown with minimal light tan head. Strong notes of chocolate in the nose. Surprisingly hoppy; I was expecting sweet. Generally tasty, but I’m not getting the Christmas spices. Dark chocolate and black fruit are front and center. The finish is long with a bitter caramel accentuated by the hops. Very drinkable, but I was hoping for more depth and complexity.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown, murky beer with a very generous, beige creamy head on top. Aroma is very herbal, typical Christmas ale, loads of cinnamon, nutmeg, chestnuts and other spices. Flavor is very sweet and herbal again, returning most of cinnamon in front, backed up by a sweet malty base with ginger touches in there. Overal a typical Christmas beer, a winter warmer with full taste yet low abv. Quite decent stuff!

12 oz can thanks to Homer321. Pours nearly black with creamy tan head. Some lacing. Aroma brings baking spices atop bittersweet chocolate. Thinking I should probably have a slice of pie with this. Taste: lightly spiced sweet porter with lasting roast bitter finish. A touch astringent. Palate: medium body, average carbonation. Overall: listed now as a "winter porter" on the label. Nice take on a winter/fall spiced porter, but hard to see this as one I’d crave more of.

Bottle shared by jackl, 11/19/14. Gusher. Pours a clear copper with a large frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of plum, spice, caramel, toffee, nutmeg. The taste is toffee, burnt sugar, plum, spicy finish. Medium bodied, mild lingering spice. 300th S/H/V!

Draft at brewery. Smells better than tastes. One of cigar city’s weaker efforts. Too much coffee to be considered winter brew

Can to snifter. nose is a cross of pumpkin and Christmas spices. slightly floral. More floral and ginger in the flavor. very prominent in the flavor. tastes like licking a glade air freshener.
