The Tocobaga lived off the bounty of Tampa Bay hundreds of years before the arrival of the Spanish in the 1500’s. They were potters, tool makers and the only Florida natives to grow maize. The large platform mounds they built are still with us today, with one of the largest found near Old Tampa Bay in Safety Harbor, Florida. Climb to the top, and with a little imagination, you can see Tampa Bay as they did. Graphic design by Eric Swanson. Recipe by Tim Ogden.

Deep red color, shiny jewel like. Aroma is lots of tree sap, bark, and pine. Great sweet flavor of caramel, sap, slightly smoky. Long lasting burnt sugar flavor.

Received as an extra from my man Dave. Poured into an Oberon pint glass. A fingers worth of off-white head, the beer is a murky brownish orange. Nose is a mix of pine and malt with a touch of honey. Not sure how old this bottle is, but the hop profile is pretty muted. It’s mostly some light bitterness, malt forward, and faint fruitiness. It has a medium body with good carbonation and a moderately long finish. Was told this resembled Nugget Nectar and while I can see the resemblance, I think Nugget Nectar is a far better beer. Still a decent beer for a random night.

In bottle at Craig’s. Pours a brown colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of tropical fruits, including dragonfruit, passion fruit, peach and pineapple. Quite bitter with similar flavours. Mild carbonation, light CO2 prickle and a foamy mouth-feel. Very fruity overall.

(12oz bottle) Pours a hazy orange body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of herbs, grass, earth, caramel, and pine. Flavor of grass, earth, herbs, pine, citrus, and caramel with a dry, bitter finish.

Pours amber with red highlights. The dense creamy head nicely laces the glass. The aroma has malt and citrus notes. Caramel, toffee, and citrus flavors. The finish is slightly bitter with a lingering citrus aftertaste. This is my first Cigar City beer and I am impressed. Can’t wait to try the other styles I bought.

Bottle. Hazy reddish-amber. Thin head. has a fruity nose (yeast) with slightly woody hops. Sweet start, balanced with fresh, fruity hop. Medium bitterness. Really reminds me of Marble Red from ABQ. Good, quaffable and well-balanced.

been drinking thru a bunch of this since settling down here. A well-balanced hoppy amber with some malt sweetness and dry finish.
