The Tocobaga lived off the bounty of Tampa Bay hundreds of years before the arrival of the Spanish in the 1500ís. They were potters, tool makers and the only Florida natives to grow maize. The large platform mounds they built are still with us today, with one of the largest found near Old Tampa Bay in Safety Harbor, Florida. Climb to the top, and with a little imagination, you can see Tampa Bay as they did. Graphic design by Eric Swanson. Recipe by Tim Ogden.

2011 bottle thanks to errl. Deep amber pour with a nice cream head. Nose is heavy toffee, caramel, hops, chewy, and sticky. Not as thick as the nose led me to think, rich malts, dough, toffee, caramel, light hop kick in the finish.

Grapefruit and Citrusy aroma with a nice malty sweetness that finishes like a pine Tree. This is a great friggin red. A charismatic beer that is a beautiful and I surely like to snuggle up with next to a warm fire on a cold night or float in a pool with some little arm floated drinkin this on a hot Gulf Coast summer day. Versatile little badass beer.

Bottle. Moderate to heavy roasted grain and caramel for the malt, light to moderate pine for the hops and soap for the yeast, with notes of date, wood and pepper. Head is average to large, frothy, off-white with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy mahogany. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acidic to start, then finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, slippery in texture and has a lively carbonation. A very nicely made Amber Ale thatís somewhere between being bold and easy drinking.

Bottle. Pour is a murky amber/orange with a pretty decent head and very active streams of carbonation rising off the bottom of the cheap hotel cup. Aromas are very interesting... I didnít expect a citrusy blast of oranges and grapefruit, but then again, CCB always seems to have a little something up their sleeve. Flavor is a bit of a disappointment. I guess I should have seen it coming... One of Therese days Cigar City would not impress the pants off me... But why today? Why not keep the romance alive for a little longer. Anyhow, I digress. The flavor on this one is boozy... Unapologetically boozy, from head to toe, start to finish, alpha to omega. Kind of a burning medicinal edge of ethanol. There is a decent caramel malt presence and some of that citrus and resin hops profile, but they get buried by booze. Itís going to take me a while to recover from this disappointment, but Iíll manage somehow...

Bottle. Deep amber/red body. Creamy ivory head, lasting. Aroma of toasted grain, raw grain, wood, grapefruit and resin. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, oily texture, moderate carbonation. Rich grain malts surrender to linger bitterness. Reminds of of the grain in Alpha King when itís beyond its prime and the hops have started to fade. Red ale flavor in the finish. A rich beer with plenty of flavor.

Very complex for an amber. Looks like a normal amber in that itís translucent brown and pretty thin of body. Flavor is more complex...light roast, some coffee, good bit of bitterness. Overall very drinkable yet very complex
