Clear amber pour with a white head. On tap the Coffee District. Fruity hop aromas. Tropical fruit and sweet caramel malt notes. Great balance. Being a big fan of more malty DIPAs, this is right up my alley. Great mouthfeel, great body, perfect carbonation.

Sampled at Churchkey during CBC week. Pours a clear orange with some cloudy, white head. Nose is nice, fruity, mango, melon, malt, honey, pine, orange zest. Flavor is sweet, malty, orange zest, scallion, mango, tropical fruit. Full, sticky finish. I have come to expect CCB beers to be messy, but this was a solid DIPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheAlum (4289) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Draft on tap at Cigar City Tap Room (Tampa, FL). Pours a nice deeper orange amber hue, nice darkness in the body, glowing orange edges shine. Mellow haziness in the body, frothy offwhite head atop dies to a film, laces ok. Aromas are grapefruit and florals, some toasty malts, a bit of carmelized malts, biscuits, and bread. Firm grapefruit slanted hoppiness grows, that malt still pushes through. Touches of tangerines, lemon, and florals. Initial is medium bodied, a touch girthy, soapy and grapefruit hops, some oranges, florals. Touches of fruity juice, caramel, and biscuits. Middle is a touch sticky, toasty with some resiny grapefruit, gentle citrus, fruity sweet elements as we trail out. A firm bitterness, but I wouldn’t call it dominant. Some nice fruit flavors, a bit sweet at times for me. Soapy, oranges, and caramel, a touch sweet, toasty. Solid beer. Would grab the Invasion over it though, personally.

At CCB. Clear orange nice white head that lingers. Strong hop aroma light tropical notes and sweet malts. Very floral and tropical. Sweeter and not as bitter as I’d hope. Boozy.
