Tropical Heatwave Wheat Ale is an American Wheat Ale, generously hopped with Kohatu hops from New Zealand. The Kohatu hops provide a very tropical flavor that fit perfectly with this summer ale.

Can. Pours bright orange gold with a massive off white head that us slow to recede. Aroma of pineapple and bread. Flavor is light wheat, with muted pineapple up front and grassy bitter and wet cardbard in the finish.

Pale golden color out of the can with a sticky white head. Nose of stale lemon peel. This is a tangy beer with light tangerine and orange peel notes and a bit of spice. Strong yeast finish. Odd wheat beer.

Can via Sean sending me random garbage. (thanks as always!) Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a big white head. Aroma is grassy and slightly tin forward. Very mild lemon tart, wheat chaff, some slight floral to tropical pineapple notes.

Can picked up at the brewery. Slight grainy aroma with some citrus. Taste is sweet initially, then reveals some peppery hop character with light fruitiness. A bit on the sweet side. Slightly tart as it warms. decent enough.

Sampled some of a pint of this beer at the brewpub. It had a semi-clear yellow-golden straw color with a big foamy white head that had good retention, and great cling and lacing. Its aroma featured notes of wheat, straw, and lemon, along with some yeast, and some grainy hops and spice. It had a semi-sweet wheat taste with a touch of lemon and straw, and some grainy sour components. The beer was fairly lively with average carbonation, a wet mouthfeel, and a thicker and fuller body.

Can @ home from Sean via wave. Hazed pale golden pour with a soapy white head. Smells of pear, lemon, and spicy, floral, noble hop character. Nice orange rind and papaya punch at the end, too. Plenty of bready malt. Flavor is nicely sweet. Biscuit, cracker, and bread sweetness balanced by a subtle hop bitterness. Light citrus notes of lemon and Orange. Light pine. Plenty of pear, flower, and a hint of earth. This is good.

Can to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs; thanks burg326). Looks solid; a fairly transparent gold with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of wheat and mild hops. Tastes like it smells, only the hops are discernably tropical. A little biscuit too. Solid on the palate. Not bad, but I’d prefer it to be hoppier.
