Growler 100 cl. Courtesy of Plovmand. Pours a clear deep amber with a small off-white head. Rather sophisticated aroma, a little wood and nuts. Medium body, sweet vanilla beans - like the orange Malaco licorice allsorts. Roasted malts and nuts. Rather subdued bitterness. Very candy-like. 090410

Dark amber to brown color; clear. Aroma of caramel and vanilla candies. Vanilla chocolate flavor, some roasted malts, smooth mouthfeel. Not impressive.

Hazy brown color. The aroma is quite dusty. Caramel flavor, dry initially, more full bodied later. Correct bitterness, no vanilla. Good Brown Ale, nothing special.

A: The pour is a dark brown color with some nice red highlights and a small tan head. S: A sniff of this one gives you a nosefull of incredibly sweet vanilla. I was expecting some subtlety (a la Stone Smoked Porter with Vanilla), but this is very bold. There’s a slight roasted and toasted malt aroma to this as well. T: The flavor is almost exactly like the nose. The sweet vanilla is once again the star (as you would expect/hope). There is a slight roasted coffee note to it, along with the same nutty, toasted biscuit malt character that was in the nose. M: The body is medium with some low to moderate carbonation (probably due to the filling and shipping processes). D: As previously mentioned, I was expecting just a hint of vanilla, but was actually quite surprised by the amount of vanilla. My only complaint was the level of sweetness that it provided, but otherwise I found it to be quite nice.
