Ale with Black Currants, Locally Foraged Lemon Leaves, Hibiscus, Cane Sugar and Elderberry Flowers. Designed and brewed in collaboration with Bob Sylvester of Saint Somewhere Brewing.

750ml bottle. Dark brown pour with a light brown bubbly head. Oily lacing, a little spotty, but looks really good. The aroma is super sour and almost a little acidic. I got hints of cherries and lemon zest with that sour funk to it. Flavor is very funky as well, maybe a little too over the top. I’d like to see how this one ages and mellows out over time. But still a good sour.

On tap at the brew pub with James, Maggi, and Geoff. Served in a snifter. Pours very dark brown, purple hint. Taste is sweet notes of cherry, plum, sweet sugar cane. A lot like ommegang rouge.

Tap at the brewery. Reddish brown pour with a thin tan head. Tart sour apple aroma herbal notes with a touch of roasted grain. Tart fruity taste, very sour with a nice malt body. Just a little too sour for me.

on tap-pours a tan head with black color. Aroma is roasty dark malt-black licorice/anise, rye/grainy, some sour. Taste is vinuous-medium/dark fruit, sood, roasty-dark malt, earthy/spice hops.

on tap at fermentation lounge. mud brown color with finger tan head and a sheet of lacing. Aroma is vinegar, grapes, cherry, acidic. Tastes are tart sour funky berries and floral. Lemon-lime sugar sweetness comes in later. Lingering acidic sour bite.

draft @ redlight redlight. Tart raspberries on the nose, reminds me of Rodenbach Grand Cru, funky with traces of vinegar. Pours a reddish amber with a thin white head. Tart and funky upfront, a sharp souress, with tart raspberry and wild strawberry flavors, with floral hibiscus coming through and traces of caramel with a mild acetic finish. For almost 10% is very drinkable! Great job!

On tap at Fermentation Lounge, great sour aroma, a bit of a soy sauce flavor. Not quite as sour as expected. A bit more sour than Sea Bass, but nothing too interesting.

Tallahassee, Fl - Fermentation Lounge - on tap. Dark brown, slightly murky pour with a creamy off-white head. Fresh, pungent aroma of sour cherries, and a faint medicinal-like alcohol presence (but not in a bad way somehow). Flavor is pleasantly sour with lots of sour cherries, some sour tart pucker notes, and just a hint of chocolate. As with most sours hard to pin a proper descriptive on the sourness - but I like it. Mouthfeel has a nice spritziness to it. Very good collaboration.

Tap. Moderate malt aromas of grain and straw, light cooked lemon for the hops, moderate barnyard, sweat, musty for the yeast with notes of vinegar, berry, spice and wood. Head is large, creamy, light tan with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is muddy brown. Flavor starts faintly sweet, and heavily acidic and sour, then finishes harshly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter, sour and acetic. Palate is medium, dry with a lively carbonation and a dry, astringent and bitey. Good, though still not my style, I see the craftsmanship put into it.

Draft… This beer rocks!… Murky and dark brown with a small, fluffy, off-white head. The aroma is acidic and fruity with interwoven notes of sour and dark cherries, red wine vinegar, funky socks, mild cocoa, a rumor of armpit stench and maybe a hint of nail polish remover - or maybe not. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and stinging carbonation. The flavor profile is such a treat – super sour and black cherries, mild yeasty bitterness and a very light notation of toasted caramel. Tart, funky, tongue-numbing finish. Weighing in at 10%, the abv could not be more disguised. Acidic, funky and acetic – everything a Flanders red should be! World class collaboration by Cigar City and Saint Somewhere!
