On tap at the brew pub with James, Maggi, and Geoff. Served in a snifter. Pours very dark brown, purple hint. Taste is sweet notes of cherry, plum, sweet sugar cane. A lot like ommegang rouge.

This beer really gets some bad reviews but honestly I liked this more then Marron Acidifie and ISO:FT. It packs more of a punch. Nice and sour with the all the ingredients in this beer coming through nicely.

Bottle - year old. Despite living in FL this is the first time I’ve had this and I’m glad I laid it down for a year. Do not understand the ratings on this as it is a very respectable sour. Perfect beige head, sour fruity nose, don’t know what a gooseberry is but I get currant and sour cherry. Great mouthfeel, balanced. Really enjoyed this.

Bottle shared by phaleslu. Thanks Peter! Pours dark brown with a very light tan head. Aroma is sour plums, berries, oak, citrus and currants. Flavor is vinegar, oak, currants and brown sugar. Has a nice sour finish to it. can’t really see how this is rated a 78. Really liked this beer.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a Spiegelau tulip.
Appearance: Pours a dark mahogany brown with caramel highlights and a thick and creamy 3 finger beige head. Excellent head retention and lacing.
Smell: Wine grapes, cherries and apple cider vinegar. Smells quite tart.
Taste: Tart wine grape hulls up front followed by a touch of tart fruitiness I can’t place along with a bit of lemon in the middle before ending with just a hint of funk at the finish. Aftertaste is light and fairly sour. Alcohol is almost completely masked.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a fairly low amount of carbonation. There is a bit of a burning sensation as it goes down - not from the alcohol, but more like a peppery, smokey, take your breath away sensation I can’t exactly explain. It’s not unpleasant, just different.
Drinkability: High drinkability. This goes down so easily it’s hard to remember that it’s right at 10% ABV. You could drink a lot of this if the alcohol didn’t sneak up on you.
Overall: Very good beer overall. I’m not too familiar with wild ales, but if this is any indicator of what they’re like, I’m sold. I would highly recommend giving this one a shot.

Draft. Dark red, pink-white head. Nose and taste are vinegar and sour cherries, like a typical Flemish sour. Not overly sweet. Tart finish.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2011 Draft at Cigar City with Andrew, Maggi, and Geoff. Pours a murky reddish body with thin lacing and noticeable carbonation. Aroma is sour cherry, dark fruits, wood and tart. Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated with notes of cherry, plum, sour grapes, and oak. Had this two other times since the actual draft at the brewery and neither time has lived up to the original tasting. Second sampling at RnH during CC Smokes event and then thirdly from a bottle. Going to have to lower this guy a little.

Tallahassee, Fl - Fermentation Lounge - on tap. Dark brown, slightly murky pour with a creamy off-white head. Fresh, pungent aroma of sour cherries, and a faint medicinal-like alcohol presence (but not in a bad way somehow). Flavor is pleasantly sour with lots of sour cherries, some sour tart pucker notes, and just a hint of chocolate. As with most sours hard to pin a proper descriptive on the sourness - but I like it. Mouthfeel has a nice spritziness to it. Very good collaboration.

750mL bottle. Poured deep purply-brown with a well-retained medium beige head. The aroma picked up sour berries, oak, and layers of yummy currants over caramel and chocolatey malts. The flavor found sour oak, currants, and cherries throughout, with floral and lesser metallic accents.. berry meat and some chocolate malt at the core.. sour finish with oak, berries, and a little fruity funk. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. sour and bracing.. good feel and flow.
