Tasted on draft at Dark Lord Day 2010.
I was surprised to see this marked as an old ale, because the flavor had barley wine written all over it. The alcohol really comes through in both the nose and flavor of this beer, but the brandy aging also leaves a notable mark on the flavor. A nice combination of hoppiness and sweeter, richer flavors really make this a big beer in every way. Very good!

Huge thanks to Jim for sharing this half of growler type bottle he won at the Sexual Chocolate release.
A-pours a dirty copper brown color with a little murky yellow head.
S-lots of chocolate and toffee up front, brandy behind, caramel and slightly burnt brown sugar, hints of sour green apples with notes of booze.
T-sour green apples up front, loads of chocolate, brown sugar and caramel, notes of brandy with some heat in the finish.
M-seems to have lost some carbonation, syrupy texture up front that thins out in back but soft and smooth on the palate.
D-a little boozy in the back, nice flavors and the apple brandy barrel imparts a nice balance to it, no wood though. lots of malty sweetness in it.

On tap. Appearance was a cloudy light amber with a tiny wispy head. Aroma is really boozy, sweet, and fruity. Taste is very brandy, with plenty of apple, sweet malt, caramel, and oak, with some vanilla and oak. Vinous notes also present. FInish is warm. Body is full and sticky. Overall, a solid brew.

Brewvival 2013. This one seemed like it was on all day. Awesome stuff. Huge bourbon in the nose, hints of sweet cherry, booze soaked raisins and other dark fruits. Sweet caramel, toffee and buttered pecans. Big mouthfeel, viscous with light carbonation. I had a few of these through the course of the day. Excellent.

aroma is strongly potpourri. color is caramel clear. flavor is as expected, less like pie, more like a candle. a bit of a brandy like warmness, and some brown ale in the background. too sweet for me.

Tap @ CCB. Poured a deep hazy brown with a thin beige head. The nose is malty with strong notes of apple and brandy and lesser notes of brown sugar, caramel, and spice. Medium to full body with a smooth mouth feel. The flavor is apples, brown sugar, vanilla and some spice. Finishes with a good amount of warming alcohol. Good.

I have no idea who gave me this, or the ratings Im about to enter but whoever did is my new best friend for hooking up a really drunk individual. I remember mostly toffee and barleywine notes to it including dark fruit and brown sugar and molasses. Probably one of the best beers I had on DLD.
