Tap at Rattle n Hum: Amber headless pour. Huge burning aroma- stings the nostrils with thick sugary brandy and ethanol. Slick hot body with flavors of thick caramel, candied malts and those hard Christmas candies that old women keep around the house. Way to much residual maltose and ethanol.

Poured a nice amber brown color, almost looking like aged brandy. Aroma of apples, malt and dark fruit. Flavors match the aroma, and a nice balance of booziness and flavor of the regular version of this beer. Really nice beer, reviewed from notes, wish this was back on tap.

On tap at the Hunahpu’s release in 2010. Reviewed from notes. Served in a snifter. Pours a moderate brown-bronze color with a pretty good thin head and a few legs. The nose is absolutely incredible right off the bat. I really enjoy the regular version of this beer, but the apple brandy has taken it to entirely different level. The nose brings forward a good balance between the booze and character of the barrel against the backdrop of malt sweetness, dark fruits, and brown sugar. The taste doesn’t integrate everything quite as well as the nose, but I was still ridiculously-impressed with it. Great melding of the barrel-aging and the base beer. The mouthfeel is chewy and exquisite. Damn, this was one of the best beers I had that day, and that is really, really saying something. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 03-03-2011

on tap. another special treat from cigar city. Very boozy. The brandy aroma and flavors come out nice. Definetly a winter warmer as advertised.

On tap. Appearance was a cloudy light amber with a tiny wispy head. Aroma is really boozy, sweet, and fruity. Taste is very brandy, with plenty of apple, sweet malt, caramel, and oak, with some vanilla and oak. Vinous notes also present. FInish is warm. Body is full and sticky. Overall, a solid brew.

Huge thanks to Jim for sharing this half of growler type bottle he won at the Sexual Chocolate release. A-pours a dirty copper brown color with a little murky yellow head. S-lots of chocolate and toffee up front, brandy behind, caramel and slightly burnt brown sugar, hints of sour green apples with notes of booze. T-sour green apples up front, loads of chocolate, brown sugar and caramel, notes of brandy with some heat in the finish. M-seems to have lost some carbonation, syrupy texture up front that thins out in back but soft and smooth on the palate. D-a little boozy in the back, nice flavors and the apple brandy barrel imparts a nice balance to it, no wood though. lots of malty sweetness in it.

Tap at Rattle N Hum. Amber-red pour. The nose is intensely sweet. Lots of rich sweetness with a bit of honey and some sweet vineous character. A touch of candied sort of booziness and a touch of sugary sweetness. There is a little bit of spiciness as well. The sweetness gets a little bit cloying and comes across as a bit underattenuated.
