Bottle from good beer NYC. Pouts dark brown with a massive, overflowing khaki head. Lots of sweet malt on the nose. Very sweet on the tongue. Not getting much hop bite. Finishes fairly clean. The alcohol becomes more prominent as it warms. Not my favorite style, ths works best as a digestif.

750ml bottle shared by b3shine at DLD 2013. Malty dark fruit, caramel sweet aroma. Looks good: hazy brown color, good light brown head, bits of lace. Smooth, softer carbonation. Sweet taste, less spice than expected. Solid sweet lightly spicy barley wine.

750 ml bottle to taster (shared by me at DLD; thanks burg326). Looks good for the style; a cloudy brown with yellowish/golden beige lacing. Smells solid; sweet, malty, and hoppy with notes of caramel and toffee. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer.

Very nice! Shared by bbb63 during our home brew session. What a wonderful English barley wine. American hops up front but the fruitiness takes over as it finishes. I really like the fruit character! Thanks to whoever sent this to Mike for us to enjoy in Indiana!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from trade with Tricyclist. Clear mahogany pour, big, thick, resilient head. Wonderful aroma of malt, ripe fruit and carmel. Taste is pretty sweet malt, carmel, ripe banana and other fruits. Low bitterness; you have to like your beer sweet to enjoy this. Complex but balanced on the malt flavor side; unbalanced in terms of hop flavor (very low). Alcohol is very well hidden. Finishes sweet, holds interest until the end. Mouthfeel is slick and substantial. This is a tasty barley wine, but it’s sweet enough that a little goes a long way. Probably a great candidate for the cellar. Thanks, Matthew!

Bottle from Shep's. Super clear mahogany pour with a small off white head. Aroma was caramel for days, nice citrusy hop presence with notes of vanilla and rum soaked fruit. Touch of booze. Flavors were caramelly sweet, light fruit with a nice bittersweet hop finish. Smooth with light carbonation. Full mouthfeel, slick. Slightly boozy yet very drinkable. I dug it.
