Super dark brown pour, creamy beige head. Loads of roast, chocolate, oak, whiskey notes, caramel. Sweeter than most dry stouts. I enjoyed this.

On nitro tap at CCB; pours a thick black with fluffy brown head and good lacing. Aroma of smoked oak, whiskey, and slight roasted malt. Taste follows with a baby whiskey and oak flavor and a slightly sweet chocolate back end. Easy to drink and smooth, very enjoyable.

Draft on tap at Cigar City Tap Room (Tampa, FL). Pours a nice darker blackish brown hue, good darker body. Near opaque, some ruby brown edges and bottom. A frothy light brown head atop dies to a film, laces small. Aromas are oak chips and cocoa, gentle toffee, irish soda bread dryness, gentle spirit gives a kiss of whiskey, vanilla, gentle roast. Touches of creamy body meet some gentle roast, toast, and darker black malts. Gentle roasted barley. Nice. Initial is medium bodied, a bit lighter showing some gentle roastiness, ash, and nutty earth. Some sweeter middle shows some cream, coffee, gentle oatmeal sweetness, bit of body, silky creamy body works well for me. Irish soda bread, nice dryness typical of an Irish Stout hits in the middle and flows into the backend. Some oak, roast, and earth hit as we finish up. Earthy, a touch roasty and ashy, faint spirit. Nose made me think this would be a bit intense, but this is really nice.

Draft at CCB during hunahpu day 2013 with Andrew, Maggi and Geoff. Pours a deep black body with no head. Aroma is whiskey, chocolate and light roast. Mouthfeel is medium with similar notes in the flavor. Pretty straightforward, but I thought it worked.

On draft at CCB for Huna Day 13’. Got a small sip from my buddies cup. Pitch black with a slight lacing. Little bit of whiskey aroma but mostly dry like a typical dry stout. Mouth feel was pretty flat, which kind of ruined it for me.

On draft at CCB, poured a dark brown color with aromas of roast, light oak, and some booze. Flavors are roast, light on the palate with some booziness in the aftertaste. A nice beer overall.

Sampled at Churchkey during CBC week. Pours a viscous, opaque black with some creamy, beige head. Nose of chocolate, malt, nuts, cola, malt powder. Flavor is lightly smokey, black pepper, malt, chocolate, nuts, crackers, brown bread. Medium bodied, dry finish. Not bad.

Nitro tap in a shaker at the taproom. Very dark brown, near black pour. Creamy beige head sits almost two fingers thick atop the elixir. I can smell whiskey from arms length. Up close the aroma reveals coffee and a tough of smoke alongside the whiskey. Taste is smokiest than expected. Lots of roast and charred oak. The whiskey isn’t as prominent as in the aroma. Light espresso flavors linger in the back of the throat. Much creamier mouthfeel than I’ve been accustomed to from the style. Leaves a light film on the tongue which is a nice quality of many CCB brews. Drinks bigger than it is which should please many who steer clear of Irish dry stouts because they lack body and flavor. This one lacks neither.
