3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I wasnít sure were exactly to rate this. I was rather off-put by some things and, curiosity aside, prefer the regular Jai Alai to this. Pours a orangish clear (or if you like the bottom, murky) with a decent sized head and ample sticky lacing. The nose is a bit strong, mainly of tropical punch and citrus. The taste is dominated by the boisterous white-oak (i guess) flavor. I am not sure if they both aged and "added" flavor, but itís huge and in-your-face. Itís good though, donít get my wrong. Blowing past that blockade, one finds the same wonderful attributes that make the Jai Alai such a top rate beer from such a low-rate state(FL). well balanced malts, very faint alcohol nestled around a very robust and hoppy character, masquerading under a plume of vanilla bean stalks. I think this is more of the "novelty" shelf.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz can shared by Spencer. The pour is a deep dark orange with a decent white head and a couple spots of light lace. The aroma is interesting. The bright juicy hops from the base beer are definitely overshadowed. The hops are there, but the biggest contributor is the oak. There is so much wood in the scent, it's nearly off-putting. It's just a fresh, green woodiness that's in there, and it takes away from the greatness that is Jai Alai. The flavor is surprisingly citrusy and juicy. The oak takes a back seat in the flavors. The juiciness is just awesome. Light oak and big hops. I'm a fan of the taste more than the regular. The mouth feel is light and good with a nice carbonation and a lingeringly bitter, slightly woods aftertaste. It's pretty good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours slightly hazy golden with a nice eggshell head. Aroma stands out with woody and fresh hoppy notes. Woody hops dominate the flavor while allowing malt and sweet citrus to share the stage. Mouthfeel is average in the fizz and body departments. Oak oak oak IPA!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thumbs up to gregwisonstl for sharing this nice IPA with me. Pours clear gold with a beige head. The aroma has smooth clean oak, caramel, fruity hops, grapes and very woody. It has a medium body with a frothy body. The flavor starts with dry oak, crusty bread, woody/earthy hops and grapefruit. The finish is mouth drying. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz can pours clear red amber with a finger of foamy head. Nose is fruity malt, some light oak, piney grapefruit, toast. Taste is medium bodied, malt forward, oak is prominent but balanced, nice accent of toast spice and dry wood, some stickt caramel pine and citrus. Finishes mildly sweet, malty toast, light piney grapefruit, caramel, orange, vanilla. Nice, a step up from regular Jai Alai for sure.

Have had canned and on tap. No detailed notes - just noticed I hadnít entered this. For me, the oak is too overwhelming in this one.

Just like the IPA Light red dark orange pour. Carbonated well which brought out floral nose. A little thick on palate. Flavor is caramel and hops. Finishes malty them hoppy ending. just add the nice subtle oak character. Do both back to back.
