3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle
Once again thanks to tastybeer for the southern surprise. Another twist on Jai Alai works well. The white oak here doesnít overwhelm the base beer; in fact it works to improve an already world class product.
Aroma / Appearance - Idle carbonation takes it time escaping the confines of the shaker glass. A bronze base is warm and inviting. White pine, orange glo, and polished maple remind me of a Christmas tree lot in December. Background aspects of mango and pineapple add even more depth.
Flavor / Palate - A warmth from roses, wood, and orange jam provides a welcoming start. Transitioning to a robust vanilla center it tastes a bit like cream cheese. The bitter finish warms the throat and fills the stomach. I could see drinking a bottle or two and calling it a night after a day at work.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Can poured into snifter. Floral and citrus hop aroma. Faint oak. Tastes more of the same but with added vanilla and wood, like opening an oak cabinet and tasting how it would smell. Pleasant. Nicely balanced wood and hops. Body is medium light with medium carbonation. I really like this beer and look forward to its release every year.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.355l can from 2d2dspuma. This one pours a mildly cloudy golden looking body with a huge really fluffy and really lacing white head. Superbly fluffy actually. Looks like clouds. Smells nice with a little green apple acidity. Thereís tones of hay and ripe sweet yeasty fruity. Iím not sure if itís meant to smell like this, but I kinda like it. Nothing special in the taste really. Itís clearly not a fresh can this. Not bad at all, just a tad un-fresh. Light oily in the mouth and itís soft on the carbonation. Lots of straws, unmalted malts, wood, a faint yeast acidity and itís somewhat dry-wooded in the finish. Iím sure this would have been a lot better fresh, bus I still kinda enjoyed this here on by the pool. 10.08.2014

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy orange with a white head. Very tropical like the original. The vanilla and oak notes makes it a bit more heavy and sweet. Nicely balanced though. Good

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one really isnít my IPA as I feel itís going away from what I enjoy in the regular Jai alai and what I enjoy in IPA. I like the hops and the juice. This one is full of a malt balance character possibly from the vanilla that kind of overwhelms my pallet. Not what I expected and not what I enjoy. Try and see if itís up your alley.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz can. 5/23/16 can date. Appearance: Deep golden, touch of orange, cloudy, with a thick off white foam head that lingers with nice lacing.
Aroma: Strong tropical fruit notes of pineapple, mango, and some berry, intertwined with with a light toasted oak. Very nice.
Taste: Moderate caramel malt sweetness, blended with strong hop flavors of grapefruit and orange citrus, with a touch of light toasted oak and vanilla throughout that peaks in the swallow. Bitterness is moderately strong and seems somewhat muted from the original jai alai
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation.
Finish: Dry tannic finish with some tacky resin. Toasted oak comes thru retronasally.
Overall: Really nice take on an already great beer, by introducing the oak for added flavor and complexity that does not overpower. Well balanced between the great hop aroma and flavor against a light but complementary toasted oak. While the bitterness seems a little muted from the original, the overall complexity of this increased

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz can courtesy of Steve. Normal looking pour for the style. Aroma brings on the hoppiness of the original version, taste is where some of the wood notes come in and take some of the rough edges off. A bit smoother.
