Strong coffee nose with chocolate with traces of vanilla. Pours black with a thick tan head. Cafe mocha, dark bitter chocolate with rich coffee, hints of vanilla and cream, smooth and silky. Wonderful beer!

Sampled at GABF on 9/18/2010. This Imperial Stout pours an eclipse black color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is coffee, chocolate, some vanilla and then some more coffee. A full bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate and coffee, touch of vanilla and raisins. Hops are herbal and earthy. Good balance. Nice carbonation. Some bitterness at the finish as well as a bunch of residual sweetness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and very smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Very smooth for being bottled a year ago. Black with a tan head. Has a molasses flavor with a stout in there as well. Very nice.

Thanks to the guy in line @ CCB that let me have some of since he got the last of it. Nose is pure coffee and roast. Like coffee ice cream. Pour is absurdly dark and coats that glass leaving a trail of beer that recedes after every sip. Tastes like a cup of coffee...Sort of a bland description but that’s what it is with less bitters. Some notes of vanilla and slight chocolate. Well balanced. Pretty darn good but I honestly like the original Zhukov better. Definitely an unusual and rare beer worth trying once for sure though.

A pitch black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of dark chocolate, alcohol, roasted malt, and tobacco. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol and roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of brettanomyces and wood, leading to a dry, woody, and roasted finish.

Growler from wetherell, thanks. Black pour no head. Nose is sweet, rich bourbonny, tons of coffee. Taste is sweet, very liquory, thick like molasses. Chewy, toffee, a little burnt. Overall good and interesting.

crude oil coffee with the guts of earthworm. super super dark brown, earth coffee earth and more earth. then on the palate, thick, maybe thickest beer ever. taking coffee beer to not only the next level but another dimension. liked the other 2 kopi beers much more, this was just such an odd ball, again earth and coffee. crazy.

Mini growler. Inky black pour yields a a scant dark khaki head. A gentile swirl leaves an oily stain on the side of my glass. High grade coffee, bittersweet Belgian chocolate, dark fudge, a hint of smoke and ash initially on the nose. Molasses, maybe a touch of soy. The 11% is hardly noticeable at all. The coffee doesn’t overpower the base beer at all... which is nice. Flavor is fairly coffee-dominant, but you can tell this is high grade shit (pun intended). Slightly ashy. Bitter chocolate. The roast level of the malt and the coffee are damn near perfect... almost to the point of being astringent, but never crossing that line. As on the nose, the alcohol is hidden expertly. Leaning toward full bodied. Slick, rich texture with a bitter, roasty, coffee laden finish. I’m not a fan of coffee beers, but this one is really well done. Thanks

Bottle at Papsø tasting with courtesy of PapFather. :) Pours pitch black with a tiny brown head. Theres loads of coffee in the aroma along with heavy roasted malt, soy and liquorice. Flavour is dark roasted malt, tar, coffee, smoke, caramel and a hint of soy. Leaves a pleasant long lasting dark and roasted after taste.
