COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Traditional Bohemian Pilsner is recognized by its rich, complex maltiness, but still refreshing. Typical soft, rounded bitterness and spicy flavor is imparted by the generous addition of Saaz hops. For our collaboration brew, we opted to create a "bigger" Pils. This "Imperial" Pils will be close to 7.3% ABV, a slight, sweet finish will balance the alcohol to produce a dangerously easy drinking offering. The addition of 5% rye malt also gives an unusual dimension/layer that complements very well the distinctive flavor of Saaz. Zythos was liberally used to showcase a beautiful tropical, citrusy, slightly piny aroma.

Pours a hazy orange yellow with a small white head. Aroma of biscuits, citrus, and light yeast. Flavor of sweet malt quickly offset by large amounts of dry bitterness.

Nice offering, although I'd have expected better from a collaboration of the great Cinci brewers active right now. Nice hazy orange color, limited head, minimal lacing. Mostly malt smell, biscuity sweetness with a nice smooth, dry finish. Very little hop character, but that's more or less to be expected. Hope they make a group IPA next year. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a clear, bright gold with a tiny white head. Aroma of bready and sweet and biscuity malts, grass, and dried fruits. Flavor of sweet malts, cookie, nectar, leaves, straw, and grass. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth, sweet mouthfeel. A hit of boozy warmth. Not my favorite style but not a bad version of it.

Drjohnrock (431) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 16, 2014
Draft at Molly Malone’s in Covington on February 15, 2014. Cloudy gold hue, nice bittersweet aroma that’s like a grown up pale lager, pungent and mostly sweet flavor, bitterness more prominent and less pungent as the glass warms. This beer isn’t bad at all, and I admire the local brewers’ gumption in choosing a lager for this year’s collaborative brew. Still, I can’t help wishing they had chosen a more adventurous lager style like, say, doppelbock.

b3shine (5333) - Indiana, USA - FEB 12, 2014
Draft to pilnser glass at Ei8ht Ball during Cincinnati Beer Week. Looks good for the style; a transparent golden orange with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of lager yeast, pilsner malt, and light hops. Tastes like it smells with average mouthfeel. Not bad.

Draft to taster at Madtree. Pours avg gold. Nose very light malt. Taste some crisp bitter up front, crystal malt, late palate bitterness. No big flavours, but fairly clean.

Draft pour. Pours q hazy gold with a white head of foam. The aroma is big tropical fruit notea with a nice crisp bready presence lingering. Taste has a lot of fruity characteristics with a bit of a bready thing going on in the finish. Medium carbonation and media body.

Draft at 8ball - berry and floral nose with hints of corn. Sip adds light caramel. Poured very cold and the body is watery for now. No real trace of booze. Mildly dry finish. Interesting choice of style for the occasion. Slight bitter.

Taster on tap at Moerlein Lagerhouse. Clear golden color. Slightly orange. Thin white head. Some citrus hop evident in the nose. Kind of surprising (must be that zythos). Citrusy, piney hop aroma. Almost west coast like. Bigger bitter taste, minimal sweet, not so much of the bite that I associate with a strong pils (more like the bite of a dry IPA). Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation, and a dry finish. Light bready malt, and some pilsnery breadiness. Not bad at all... A lot better than expected.
