3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BelgianBeerGal (2605) - Dayton Area, Ohio, USA - DEC 30, 2006Bottle. I was worried about it tasting mass-produced but I was pleasantly surprised. A good bier I would order again. Nothing special but a good quality option.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 77ships (2162) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 16, 2013
25 cl. bottle @ home. From a local Carrefour. No BBF. The “abbey” beer produced by Alken-Maes. Priced cheaper than other beers aiming for the same market @ supermarket – possibly / likely aiming @ that market. The cheaper price is negligible probably keeping in mind that this is a 25 cl. Bright, clear apple golden, lots of bubbles visible, head is like soap & almost instantly gone. Weird sweet citrus soap nose, metallic, chemicals, grass, light esters, light alcohol, nasty industrial fare. Sweet pale lager grains taste, bitter grass, citrus soap, metallic, white sugar alcohol burn in the back, lingering bitter hop extracts,… Huge carb. Wow this is industrial / imperial pilsner // pale lager territory. This is dreadful. Keeps burning in the throat. I cannot drink this.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Abijen (214) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 12, 2013
Pours a golden beer with a big white head. Smells pretty standard. Sweet. Taste is quite boring. Sweet. Palate is ok I guess.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bigpaul125 (4) - - MAY 7, 2013 does not count
One of my favourite "everyday" Belgian beers. First tasted in Ghent, and bought a case on the way home. Tastes quite yeasty, but very refreshing. Difficult to get in UK, unfortunately.....
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Douberd (633) - NETHERLANDS - APR 13, 2013
250 ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass at home. ABV 7%. 1,24€
Nice deep orange colour and clear body but a disappointing head. Just half a finger of white foam, with minimal retention as well.
Fruity aroma, but also a bit faint. No aroma that sets itself apart.
Taste is not bad, nice bitterness to begin with but a short finish. Yeast and fruits, mostly apricots.
Carbonation above average but in a good amount, medium body.Nice dryness on the palate too.
Overall, it doesn’t begin good, with the clumsy appearance and the faint smell, but it becomes better on the taste front and leaves a rather good impression after all.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 paulvanpelt (163) - Reusel, NETHERLANDS - APR 7, 2013
Helder gouden bier met flinke witte schuimkraag. Aroma van graan, gist, licht bloemig. Bitterzoet, maar geen sterke smaak. Lichte tot medium body, beetje waterig. Middelmaat, maar wel een goed terrasbier.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Piero1987 (374) - SWITZERLAND - APR 3, 2013
Golden color with white head. Spicy and fruity aroma, also honey. Sweet and dry with spicy flavour.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 stevoj (928) - Ramstein-Miesenbach, GERMANY - MAR 28, 2013
Nice sweet belgian ale. Aroma of honey, vanilla, bread, citrus; clear golden with thinoily head. Taste is toffee and butterscotch, mothfeel leans towards the oil side. A very pleasant drink.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 rosenbergh (4666) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 26, 2013
Draught at the Cervecería Valonia, Gijón, Spain.
Cloudy golden colour with a big creamy and fluffy white head.
Belgian style yeast and mild spices in the mild aroma. Quite blah.
Belgian yeast, mild hops and malt in the mild flavour. Surprisingly lagery. Watery. Not very good Belgian Blond.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jmgreenuk (1305) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAR 10, 2013
Bottle at Huppel The Pub, Den Haag. Poured a clear amber with a thin white frothy head and some broken lace. The flavour is hugely yeasty, sharp, medium bitter and very typically Belgian. It’s drinkable, but its that traditional style that I’m quickly growing out of.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 ruigo (278) - PORTUGAL - FEB 13, 2013
UPDATED: FEB 28, 2013 A rather more flavourless beer than I was expecting. It is a very common type of beer that doesn’t leave so many memories.
